The Luck of the Irish
The Irish are linked to luck, and the four leaf clover is a sign of luck. In many ways we are somewhat superstitious about luck. My grandfather gave me a tin that held a four leaf clover in, and it did make me feel more confident and good things happened to me too. I gave the four leaf clover to my brother to take with him when he was in Iraq and it actually saved him from getting piece of shrapnel in his chest plus the fact that he came home safe. We have a tendency to step out of our comfort zone and do something positive which in turn helps us in someway. Newton said every action has an equal and opposite reaction. I do believe that if you are feeling lucky and emitting positive actions all that good stuff all comes back to you, like a good stuff boomerang! Just like hub pages, I am interested in my fellow hubbers pages, as they are to mine. May the luck of the Irish be with you!
Luck of the Irish does owe its origin to the U.S.A. When they arrived, they were very disliked, treated badly, despised and hated. When the Irish had any kind of success most Americans at the time didn't think the Irish were capable such successes, so they called it luck. Hence the term "Luck of the Irish".
Some trace the origin of the phrase to the US where, during the exploration for gold in the West, there were a high number of Irish people who got lucky, and found their "pot o' gold" in the gold fields of California, or were equally prosperous in silver mining.
