Craft Supplies To Make A Heart Decorated Votive Holder
Get your materials together and be sure to take a look at all the step by step pictures on this tutorial page. Read over the directions and you will be ready to make your candle holder.
Things you will need:
- A small plain candle jar or votive holder
- A votive candle - if you use a tea light make sure it has a plastic base, a metal one could break the glass votive holder
- White glue
- Red glitter
- A paint brush
- An X-acto knife
- ½ in wide piece of red or maroon satin ribbon
- Duct tape
- A pair of scissors
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Step 1: Gather your supplies - Read all the directions - Look at the pictures

Step 2: Hot glue the satin ribbon around the mouth of the candle holder. Be sure to wrap the ribbon right around the edge of the glass and make sure to glue every inch of it.

Step 3: Cut out several squares from the duct tape and cut out a heart in each of the duct tape squares. Your hearts can be different sizes. With or without a pattern, place the hearts on the outside of your votive holder.

Step 4: The tape on the glass candle holder should look like the holder in the picture up above.

Step 5: Paint the white glue carefully on the cut out hearts areass on the duct tape. The white glue should be painted on evenly so the glitter doesn't clump up. It looks nicer when it's a smoother finish.

Step 6: Sprinkle the glitter generously on the heart holes while the glue is wet. Do all of the heart spots on the votive holder.

Step 7: Let the glitter dry on the candle holder for at least an hour or two.

Step 8: Remove the duct tape from the candle holder carefully. You can use a sharp or pointed object like the cutter to do this. Do it gently so the glitter doesn't fall off.

Step 9: Clean the areas around the glittered hearts with a dry, clean paint brush. You want to remove any loose glitter from these areas. Don't touch the areas of glass where there is glitter, it may fall off.

Step 10: It's now time to put a tea light in the glass votive holder.
