Whenever I think of my childhood—I think about the wonderful movies that graced the screen both the “silver screen” and the TV screen. Even as my own children were growing up; we spent many warm winters’ night watching the various movies and getting that “holiday feeling” that puts so many in a festive mood.
With that in mind—I have put together ten of my favorite all time movies. This spans a time from my youth to adult. There are others that I really enjoyed however these are at the top of my list.
1. It’s A Wonderful Life
2. Miracle on 34th Street
3. A Christmas Carol (the older versions)
4. A Christmas Story
5. The Polar Express
6. A Charlie Brown Christmas
7. Home Alone
8. Home Alone 2: Lost in New York
9. Home Alone 3
10. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (With Boris Karloff)
What are some of your favorites?
No.4: A Christmas Story is one of my favourite.
I'd mention 'Trading Places' too, as an alternative foul-mouthed classic.
Plus a great wee film called 'Snow Day' with Chevy Chase and Iggy Pop ...... not a Xmas story but it's got all the fun ingedients
1. Have the DVD; love it; watch it several times a year once Christmas rolls around, even when it comes on television (though I hate the commercials.
2. Love it; but, the classic, not the new fandangled versions Hollywood tries to film.
3. Please refer to #2.
4. Husband's favorite movie; even seen A Christmas Story 2 (not nearly as good as the first).
5. Never seen it; don't even think my kids have.
6. Watch it as a kid; but, my kids now think it's too boring.
7. 8. and 9. A few of my all time favorites.
10. Little Cindy Lou Who is my favorite character because she represents innocence and purity in all things.
Shirley, you must watch the Polar Express on DVD, it is a great movie!
I think you just sold me. I will look for it as soon as I can get to town the next time. Thank you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving this coming week. May you be blessed and you bless.
