Wow, it is Thanksgiving up here already. What new ideas for your turkey do you have this year?
Do you stuff your turkey with dressing or fruit? I have used all different spices in my turkey including cloves and even stuffed the turkey with lemons(this was great).Does anyone use sage? What is your favorite way to roast your turkey ? I am looking for a new turkey taste this year.
For the turkey, I usually roast it in the overn for about 6 to 8 hours depending on the size and I really like the way it comes out so I don't plan to change anything with the bird itself. For the stuffing I plan to make a bread stuffing with lots of fruits, raisins, cranberries, almonds and chorizo (spanish sausage).
In the past I have stuffed the turkey with a meat mixture of:
Ground beef, one egg, bread crumbs, raisins, olives with red pimentos, almonds, and onions, all mixed together. Since it cooks inside the bird with the juices, it comes out tender and really tasty.
Your question was..What new ideas for your turkey do you have this year ?
Well being I'm married to one and he doesn't like to dance..I thought I would get my Turkey dressed up rather dashingly " GQ" and go out dancing at the local
" Country Western Saloon " get him marinated, take him home in the wee hours of the morn and add some spiced apples/ buttered yams and slip him into the oven for a few hours...dinner at 6:00 pm...see you there..
PS..please bring an appetite...Sorry couldn't resist the humor..it's part of who I am....Thanks for the great question....
LOL Don't be sorry I loved it...You made my day I will be thinking of this picture all through dinner. Thanks.
To be serious for a moment..I have stuffed the turkey with cut up apples/raisins/cranberries/almonds/orange slices/cubed bread & OJ ( cinnamon/nutmeg)
cover/ cook.. uncover cook to brown. OJ & marmalade to brush on will crisp the outer skin.
