    Do you have an opinion about Halloween?

    In some of the poorest countries in the world, pumpkins are a rich source of food. They are never carved out only be thrown away later. They would be left to dry out on the roof of homes and eaten for the months afterwards.

    For me Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, and Cinco de Mayo are all "fun" holidays or excuses to have parties and socialize. The only difference is Halloween has treats and activities for children as well.
    However the people who enjoy Halloween the most in my opinion are single adults who plan to host parties, frequent bars, and nightclubs.
    Pumpkins are not very high up on the food chain for most people in the U.S. unless it's to make pies or some other desert. A large part of being in a rich country is observing how much we waste daily.

      I think you more or less said it as I see it - more commercialism and an opportunity to have a booze up - the children can be forgiven as they are after all - just children but with hunger throughout the world perhaps pumpkins should be seen as food,
