There were some who celebrated Thanksgiving Day being with family, relations, & friends, enjoying a festive day of dinner, parties, & games. However, there are others who view Thanksgiving Day as a genocidal holiday. These people feel that to celebrate Thanksgiving Day is excusing genocide of the original American population. Your thoughts on celebrating Thanksgiving Day?
The original pilgrims had 30 years of peace with the natives, Cultures have clashed against each other since the dawn of time, it just so happens that in this instance the Europeans won. Also they were often assisted by native tribes to fight against other native tribes.
The natives practiced slavery, war, rape, scalping, cannibalism, and various ritualistic forms of murder and human sacrifice. The Comanches butchered babies, and roasted people alive.
Also it's a myth that early European settlers waged microbial biological warfare years before discovery of advanced germ theory.
I still celebrate Thanksgiving, even though I understand the genocidal beliefs. I celebrate for what it has become, a time to be thankful for friends and family.
It's a day off from work and I get to eat turkey, drink beer and watch movies all day. Therefore I'm fine with it.

Do atheists/agnostics celebrate Thanksgiving Day?Historically, Thanksgiving had roots in religious and cultural tradition. And, if they do, who do they give thanks? The picture attached here shows the "Then & Now" before meals, which is quite true.

Why do YOU celebrate Thanksgiving?Seems like a pointless day. Have holidays just become about food and gathering? If so aren't those things we should and can be doing year round?
