    Happy New Year!
                            Shubh Nava Varsh!

    Today is the New Year day for Indians. It is the first day of Vikram Samvat according to lunar calendar of India. Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the first day of the bright half of Indian lunar month Chaitra is the New Year day according to Vikram Samvat.
    It is also the first day of Chaitra Navratri.

    I wish all of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.

    Thanks for wishing Happy New Year. People know about Chinese New year in general other than English one. I just wanted to spread words about Indian New Year.

    And I, too, wish you a happy New Year.

    Here, spring is struggling to emerge after a deeply cold winter, and for me, it is right for the new year to begin now with seeds going into the soil and long walks with the dog on warmish nights.

    Indian New year starts in the spring. Spring is "Basant" in Indian languages. Navratri also starts from this day and this Navratri is called Basant Navratri or Chaitra navratri.
