A Paradise So Near !!

Updated on April 03, 2013
Source

On Easter Sunday after spending the afternoon taking photos of our local Market Town of Cardigan we did then make a three minute journey to the beautiful and quaint fishing village called St .Dogmaels.

The sun shining on the sparkling waters added to the romantic and inspiring charm oozing from this gem ; this haven of pure and unspoilt beauty soon had our cameras clicking away!!.

St. Dogmaels history also boasts the magical legend of The Peregrine Mermaid according to St Dogmaels Church records on October 1st 1789.

Enjoy !!!!

So quaint

so wondrous

a story of

magical wonders;

adventures pulling

so compelling our wishes.

The moments of tossing

upon the waves of time;

our heartbeats excited;

our cravings sublime.

carried away on the crest of a wave;

discoveries anew

new lives

subconciously to crave.

I follow that trail

under the spell of salt air;

that Peregrine Mermaid

a heartful of love

a soulful of care.

Follow your heart

that magnetised beat;

your spirit will lead

your fears you'll defeat.

Sail onto those lands anew;

fears discarded

dark days so few.

      You make me wish to return to Wales! I can't forget how beautiful it is. I also recall a tale about a town that lost an entire generation due and avalanche. Or maybe it was a landslide? I was taught how to say, "How are you?" and "Very well, thank you" in Welsh, but sadly, I do not remember. Anyway, I enjoy your pictures as much as your poems. :)

      "Paved with golden moss."---I really like this. It references the "roads paved with gold" mythology but the moss evokes the land-that-time-forgot element. It captures magnificence and glowing expectations and nostalgia. Really lovely imagery work. The rest of this was beautiful too, of course! The opening set of landscape photos could be postcards---so pretty.

      Your 'little corner of Wales' is chock-full of historic and beautiful places to visit! Through your eyes i get to see things i would never otherwise!

      As i'm scrolling through the first pictures the word that jumped to mind was 'QUAINT' and then when i began reading - there it was - used THREE separate times!

      "Follow your inner being Allow that warmth to grow;

      Such promise to share; That halo,that glow."

      Love it, Eddy - and YOU!

      Thanks, Eddy, for sharing the photos made in your "little corner of Wales" and your lovely verses that evoke a magical land.

      About 30 years ago, I was invited by a friend to visit Wales, but wouldn't take the requisite three weeks of vacation at one time from my job. (At that time, I thought I was indispensable! Ha!) Since then I've wished many times that I'd gone. Now it's very difficult (physically) for me to travel, and I can no longer afford to do so. That's why I so enjoy a vicarious visit through hubs such as these. Thanks for allowing me to enjoy St. Dogmaels.
