Basking in the Dark

Basking in the Light

Let me not bask in the light

Of our artificial sun

That keeps me awake each night

Makes my face looks wan

Please turn if off

So you can’t see my troubled thought

I don’t want to show proof

That I am distraught

All I need is a full rest

So this tired palaver

Can at least make a protest

When the day is over

All I want is a breathing space

From hitherto and tomorrow,

All I desire is to get an ace

When the day starts anew

So I can once again wear a mask

For the night covers it well

Nobody dares to ask

When the darkness tolls its bell

Can’t you see?

That behind this façade

Is a phantom, so ugly

Forlorn, so sad…

Excellent writing. You took time to create a beautiful rhyming that came to us like confessions of a soul that kept itself in the dark.

Hello DFiduccia...thank you so much for the uplifting words...i can't deny that there are times that i will allow myself to succumb to that darkness, but once i am in it, i still find time to reflect on my thoughts that eventually will lead me out from it...

      Hi Raciniwa

The emotions and images you provoke in your poetry speaks to our hearts.

It is hard having to mask the way that we are really feeling.

      Voted up and away.

      Take care :)

      Raci,

This poem drew me in and held me, but I left feeling sad. I hope this is not an introspection of you, because from your writings and your profile picture, you are never less than lovely.

My friend, first let me thank you for favoring me with so many left comments to my work, I am ashamed for not replying quickly. I have been moving and my Net has been down for almost a week. I am back now and inspired to take my quill in hand and scribe my thoughts, my Muse has been so impatient while I was busy with my move. raciniwa this is a beautiful heart felt piece you left here. You to write from your soul, you found mine and left your mark with your comments. I am indebted to you sweet poet, keep writing you are brilliant, your light shines into my darkness, a candle blowing in the wind, your breath leaves me inspired. Hugs

I love the deep emotions raging outward of this masked character in your poem, its quite unique, I love the flow of it and how it rhymes, it has a mind of its own this poem of your Raci. Nice job!

Voted up and getting shared onto my new profile on Facebook, with my followers, and all of my networks.

I had to do it, I had to separate my private and personal FB profile from my professional one recently, and once again thanks for the friend acceptance up there in FB land. This is a sensational writing technique of your poetry, oh yes indeed.
