By The Fireside~
Here my soul drifting
Up all night waiting
Then you came
Behind the sheer curtain
Saw your shadow passed by.
I sat and watched
As you walked by
Your scent lingers
In the dark I sniffed
Quivering and heart throbbing.
My eyes grew dim
As you kissed my cheek
I breathed rushing
Without knowing
How much my heart can bear.
In perfect light my soul will arise...soon, soon!

You whispered
“I love you”
But my lips have failed
To say, “I love you too”
Deaf as a post I was.
I gazed on the dim light
That flickers through
Contented to feel you
And then you fade away
Swiftly like the gusting breeze.
Sweet peace my soul hopes
I'll wait for your return
In this little nook of the house
Where my heart is set at rest
Kindled by the fireside.
Light is good from whatever lamp it shines. ~Unknown
