Ghost of Love Shadows of Fear – Answer to Writer’s Challenge by Genna East

Updated on January 5, 2018

The Challenge.

Answer to fellow Hubber Genna East's challenge to write a poem of any kind expressing emotions prompted by the two videos shown in her hub. Both videos are from the movie "Of the Shadow and the Grey."

There is a link to Genna's hub at the bottom and also links to the other wonderful Hubbers who also answered her challenge.

My Poem

Ghost of Love Shadows of Fear

© by Shyron Shenko

He can feel their icy glare

Eyes follow him everywhere

The biting cold cannot compare

To the bone chill of grief and despair

Looking at her picture he read the note

He wrote the day she passed away

Hungry eyes surround him, shadows closing in

He prepares for one last fight to the bitter end

I’m here she whispered,

You’ve not lost me at all ...

Once more into the fray….

Into the last Good fight I’ll ever know.

Live and die on this day…

Live and die on this day…

Note to Genna

Thank you for the challenge, but just like Jodah, I found it hard to cram all the emotions into 80 words.

This was sad (my emotion) but I felt compelled to answer your challenge.

Came back to share this poem, so well expressed, again. You always have the knack for picking just the right words . . .

So awful hot of late with the high humidity. Hope you got your grass done so you can stay in the cool again. Hope all is well . . . Take care, dear friend.

Au fait, thank you so very much for the comments and compliments.

We are doing okay and hope you are doing well. It is back to cutting grass, spent most of the day cutting yesterday.

Blessings and hugs always my dear friend.

Came back to give this excellent poem another share.

What a nasty day we're having weather-wise. A winter day for Texas. I'd rather have a day like this every now and then than the cold winters we've had the last few years and especially the ice storms. Hope you and John are in where it's warm and dry and that all is well there. Take care, dear friend. Blessings always . . .

So touching and so real. Wolves are marvelous creatures, but survival is in our blood.

80 words or not, this was beautifully done.

Very visual indeed, I know that as much as I love wolves, if I was ever put in that position that Liam was faced with, I too would fight for my life, one Alpha against another. Your words were penetrating, bravo well done.

This is beautiful poetry, Shyron. I don't think it matters if anyone goes over the word count just a little. I like how you added his final words of the video clip too.

The rhythm and the pace with the final hope is well-crafted indeed.

Thanks for including my link; much appreciated.
