Illuminations: A Poem
I daydream at night
And wait for the dawn
to face the harsh reality
that life has a careful rhythm
But like a roller coaster
It has unexpected turns
A few are exhilarating
Most just double cross me
Every light hour is varied
Yet they pass by the same
Then the dusk comes quietly
With relief I embrace it
Stars wink at me
Just enough brightness
Gives my head clarity
All is calm and I rest
