Illuminations: A Poem

Updated on May 23, 2012
Source

I daydream at night

And wait for the dawn

to face the harsh reality

that life has a careful rhythm

But like a roller coaster

It has unexpected turns

A few are exhilarating

Most just double cross me

Every light hour is varied

Yet they pass by the same

Then the dusk comes quietly

With relief I embrace it

Stars wink at me

Just enough brightness

Gives my head clarity

All is calm and I rest

      "A few are exhilarating

      Most just double cross me"

I can relate to this. Nicely done.

Niece piece of work. Sightings of dark endless sky at night and beautiful constellation of stars, both of them put us in state of calm and leave us pondering our minds about some life realizations.

      Beautiful poem, voted up!

Ahmed Foyez: Thanks for commenting! I wrote this poem about the uncertainty of what can happen during the day and the peacefulness I find at night.

Nice work here. You have captured the topsy turvy life beautifully with your insights here. OF course, it would perhaps be boring without all those twists and turns! voted up!

f: Thanks! We do; the best view I saw was in North Georgia on top of a mountain.

Well, sounds good; you often think of the clear air above the Rockies rather than the humid South having clear skies, but I guess around where you guys are it's not all flat and humid. Blessings.
