I'm Dreaming Of A Non-White Christmas

Updated on December 21, 2010

This is a poem about not wanting a white Christmas.  Having a bad winter last year was annoying and this year it looks like it could get worse.  At times the roads are so bad that they become very dangerous, and the authorities always seem slow to act in these conditions.

 I'M DREAMING OF A NON-WHITE CHRISTMAS

I'm dreaming of a non-white christmas

Just like the ones i used to know

It's annoying and over-rated

When you get all of this snow.

Some people still want the snow

Like it was in the past

But  these days you have to wonder

How long will it all last.

In previous years there's been no real snow

Not that i can remember.

Nowadays it's not just a white christmas

But white for the whole of December.

Conditions are getting treacherous

Out there on the road

Any cars that haven't crashed or skidded

Is because they have all really slowed.

When you are out at all

You have to wear all the right gear

But i'd rather have something cold inside

And stay in and have a nice beer.

When i look out my window on Christmas day

I hope everything's alright

Meaning it won't be cold and there won't be snow

In fact everythings non-white.

Bing is turning in his grave right now, but I had to laugh out loud. I agree, the snow is so hazardous to drive in. I'd rather stay inside and have a nice beer, I mean wine! LOL

I think all the snow has come to the USA, for NY is white from dead to toe and it looks like a long winter night. God Bless my friend.

Hi Just Ask Susan, Thanks for reading and commenting on this Hub. Much appreciated. I know, it's probably amateur snowfall in comparison but because we've not had much in years everybody is complaining about it all!

      Cheers. Michael.

Ahh, you have my sympathies. I don't live in Scotland, or in Northumberland where I understand it's also very bad. I've been longing for some proper snow, because where I live in the North West, we're really only teased with a little light snowfall. It's a shame you can't spread your snow around the UK :( That would solve your problems a little, and make me happier.

Hope you get the Christmas you hope for!

      Linda.

Hi, ha ha I have seen on the news all the snow that you have had to put up with! we have been really lucky down south England, we had about half inch, and then it disappeared! but last year it was a huge amount, so fingers crossed it will be gone soon! if not you will be having to learn to cross country ski! lol loved the poem, cheers nell

I wish you the snow of Frosty the Snowman - which disappears with the passing of Christmas. But if you are indeed found in a blanket of white, may your days be filled with much laughter, many hugsm and many many warm steamy mugs...

I like your twist on this

Merry Merry dashing thru the snow!

      Hugs to you

      Laurie
