It's her Birthday!
Birthdays should be celebrated. It is a special occasion for contemplating and rejoicing at the same time. However, as we grow older, we also grow deeper and slower and birthdays are not celebrated the way we used to do from sweet sixteen to wild parties of our younger days. And no, we don’t necessarily get boring. We only learn how to embrace the phases of our lives and then we begin to realize, we don’t need to party long and hard anymore to celebrate. We’ve been through it all. We blew the candles, eat the cake and drunk the wine at once. We wanted to be fast and faster. Now, all we want is to be calm and calmer. Maybe still drink some wine but only just to rewind the good memories.

- Aging Graciously~
Some people are old at 18 and some are young at 90...time is a concept that humans created. One thing is for sure, I'm well past my legal age and I'm smiling. - The Arrival Of Middle Age~
Aging - the course of growing old is a natural process of life. Are you prepared to confront reality when old age arrives? Are you anxious or so ready to go with the flow in which the natural order becomes the reversed?
It's her birthday
No cake to fill her waist in
Why not fix breakfast?
Why not fix breakfast
On this gloomy winter day
It's her birthday!
It is her birthday
She fixed herself some breakfast
Mending her hunger.
Mending her hunger
Toasts and egg on a red plate
Black coffee brewing.
Black coffee brewing
She is cold and starving
Breakfast will fill her.
Breakfast will fill her
Mind, body and the whole soul
To keep her all wired.
To keep her all wired
Despite her silvery hair
She gobbled with grace.
She gobbled with grace
Alone in the breakfast nook
It's her birthday!

Note to self:
Aging is a gift. Find a way to love yourself...
It's your birthday!
How do you celebrate?
Borrowed from Meryl Streep and exactly my sentiments:
“I no longer have patience for certain things, not because I’ve become arrogant, but simply because I reached a point in my life where I do not want to waste more time with what displeases me or hurts me. I have no patience for cynicism, excessive criticism and demands of any nature. I lost the will to please those who do not like me, to love those who do not love me and to smile at those who do not want to smile at me. I no longer spend a single minute on those who lie or want to manipulate. I decided not to coexist anymore with pretense, hypocrisy, dishonesty and cheap praise. I do not tolerate selective erudition nor academic arrogance. I do not adjust either to popular gossiping. I hate conflict and comparisons. I believe in a world of opposites and that’s why I avoid people with rigid and inflexible personalities. In friendship, I dislike the lack of loyalty and betrayal. I do not get along with those who do not know how to give a compliment or a word of encouragement. Exaggerations bore me and I have difficulty accepting those who do not like animals. And, on top of everything, I have no patience for anyone who does not deserve my patience.” ~
Meryl Streep quoted these as words she lives by and I'm borrowing them...all of them!
