Just One: Free-Flow Poetry with Artwork

Updated on April 25, 2012

This is my attempt at an altered book page. Third one! Find the others here:

We Grow & The End

The process is pretty simple:

  1. Rip out a page from a book. I cringed at this part even though I bought a book at the Dollar Tree specifically for this! I just hate destroying books!
  2. Read through the page and see if anything jumps out at ya!
  3. Take bits of Post-It notes, make sure it's the sticky part, and place over the words you want to keep.
  4. Paint, splatter, sketch...etc. on the page. I used acrylic paint on this one. I like acrylic because of the easy cleanup and quick drying time!
  5. Once the page is dry enough, take tweezers and peel away the Post-It.
  6. Stand back and smile at your awesomeness!

"Just One"
"Just One"

comfortable

we currently think

somewhere deep and cool

we want sacrifice

painful and fast

we have real beliefs

people like to quote

they say:

perfect

there is just one.

What a great idea. I must try it, but I'm not sure the result will be as good as yours; it looks so artistic.

Michael, I'm working on more, but first there is something I need to get out of my system. My next two poems will be rather dark. The past few hours have been kind of tough!

Michael, thanks! I guess it's just my 'craft of the moment' type thing. I'll obsess about this for a little while and then move on to something else soon!
