Leadership - What Does It Mean to Me? 30th "Good Word" in the Good Word's Project

Updated on June 15, 2020

Leadership, the 30th word in the "Good Words" project, created by Jo_Goldsmith11, by giving us words to live by in hopes to help inspire her fellow Hubbers, to become the best writers, authors and poets we can be. This is Jo's calling. Jo "Grace" Goldsmith is a leader.

When Jo first started the "Good Words" project, I promised to write a poem for each Good Word that she chose for us weekly.

Note: I may not get them done as quickly as I would like but will continue to do them as quickly as possible for me.

I so admire Jo for her Leadership in starting this project.

Source

We see a Leader when we know one

When we see what he/she has done

And the potential they bring out in everyone

That is what leadership means to me

A Leader starts out to help just one

And the cascade from there

Has caused challenges for us to share

That is what leadership means to me

A leader is someone who instills values

By every word they speak

To lead us to a better place

One that we all seek

A leader is someone who cares

How high WE can reach

And leads by inspiring

Without the need to preach

Think Biden is doing a fine job so far. I like his big plans and I think they will make a great investment in this country, which has been sorely needed for a long time.

No Conservative said a single discouraging word about cost when Trump ran the national debt up 7.8 TRILLION dollars. Likely because it all went to tax cuts and forgivable loans to huge corporations and billionaires. No money in Biden's programs will go to these obscenely wealthy billionaires or their humongous corporations, and that is the reason Republicans are complaining about the cost. Republicans like to give tons of money to people/corps that don't need it because then it comes back to them by way of contributions to their campaigns and political pacs.

Wish Dems would get rid of the filibuster -- and rid of Joe Manchin too. He seems like a dino to me (Democrat in name only).

So nice to have a civilized president who has some dignity, and not have to wake up every day to 4 or 5 major disasters and a dozen moronic tweets first thing, or at all!

Blessings, dear friend. Take care . . .

Good leaders also have to CARE for the people they represent. It appears that we have some who care about the office they hold and wanting to get re-elected instead of doing the best job for their constituents and the country at large. Many good, as well as bad leaders, have been on display lately. Let's reward them at the ballot box the next chance we get.

Leadership means not running off to Cancun, Mexico after being elected to an office that is supposed to be helping to solve problems. Just take off with our tax dollars (Cruzes' pay) to a warmer place where there are few if any problems until somebody else solves the problems here.

Hope you are weathering the weather OK, and staying warm. Blessings, dear friend. Stay safe.

Hopefully we're mostly out of the woods despite all the posturing and whining of the losing candidate. Hopefully, before long, we will have a real leader who will address all these problems the Orange Monster brought on this country. Glad Biden has already begun working on the major issues, like the pandemic, so maybe someday we can get back to normal and at least not have to worry about going out of our homes.

Posting this on FB & AH.

No, Biden isn't the perfect leader (is anyone?) but compared to the lame duck he seems pretty perfect. Heck, you and/or I could alone or together do so, so much better than we have had to suffer these last 4 years.

Hope all is well with you, dear friend. Have the best Thanksgiving you can under the circumstances. Blessings . . . Stay well!

Tried to leave a comment on this article 3 times yesterday, and every time something happened to cause things to go awry. Wasn't sure if the last one went through, but now it seems it didn't. Can't remember what I wrote. Just wanted you to know, I tried.

Would be nice if we had some leadership in this country. Other than leading more people to become infected by the Coronavirus, etc., that is. Holding rallies and insisting on schools opening, and then talking about pushing the election back on account of the virus. That's crazy.

I think the election should be moved up, maybe into September so we can start cleaning this mess up. But I really think Trump will be reinstalled by Putin. I won't say reelected because he was never elected in the first place. Hillary won the popular vote by some 3 Million votes and that's a lot. Our intelligence services have stated that Russia interfered and even went into some detail, but the 'fake' news really doesn't care and nobody else seems to either. It's like it never happened. Except, it did, and so we've had an illegitimate president for nearly 4 years now. Wish he would go away, but that's probably too much to hope for.

Anyway, rather than pushing the election back, it needs to be moved forward IMHO. We desperately need some leadership in this country, but I think we aren't likely to get any for at least 4 more years. Wonder if we'll be part of Russia by then?

Hope you are staying safe. Blessings, dear friend . . .

Sadly, Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York says he won't run for president and has no desire at all to do so. I think he would win, and I think he has exemplified leadership during this Coronavirus crisis. We desperately need someone with a working brain who believes in doing his job whether his behind gets licked and sucked and kissed or not. Trump makes blatantly clear that he washes the backs of the governors that kiss his better part. Not saying that part is at all exceptional, only that it's Trump's better part compared to all of his others. Not something to crow about when your A-hole is your best part . . . You have to have realized, it's the part of him that runs the show. When it's not happy, nothing that matters gets done.

Posting this on FB & AH.

Blessings dear friend. Be safe . . .

Back to say that even though we are 3 years into Trump's term as president, we still have no leadership. I doubt many people would want their children to grow up to be like Trump.

Well, now we have other problems. Seems like Trump creates 2 or 3 new problems daily aside from the fact that he is himself a huge problem. He has killed to major military men in the Iranian military just for the fun of it, it would seem.

With the presidential election less than a year away, one might wonder why he would so such a thing -- if one didn't realize what a dither he's in over being impeached along with other problems and doing whatever he thinks it will take to get re-elected. Trading the lives of our young people for votes seems reasonable to him, and likely to his supporters as well. That's what I'm afraid this will all lead too.

All was going pretty well when we had the treaty in place with Iran that the Obama Administration worked out, but Trump had to rip that up and now he is further poking these people with a stick. He couldn't leave well enough alone. Republicans, I've read, have wanted to go to war with Iran for a very long time, so in an effort to be re-elected, Trump is trying to give them their long desired wish.

What is it with Republicans and war? Maybe if they who are so for war were to personally and physically lead the charge along with their families, they might have some other thoughts. It's easy to sacrifice other people's lives, but what if it were their own or the lives of people they care about? I know, they really only care about themselves when they care at all. So sending their children to Iran to die would be no big deal.

A shame people have to die in order to accomplish Trump's re-election. He should be in jail for all the horrible things he has done anyway, not the Oval Office.

Happy New Year! Hope 2020 will be full of blessings for you dear friend. Take care . . .

I think Trump hasn't the vaguest idea of what constitutes leadership. He is a terrible leader and will likely go down in history as our worst leader ever.

All the polls say Trump is losing, but they said that last time didn't they? Since nothing has been done to protect our elections from outsiders since the last time the Russians meddled, I really think they will swing the election again next year and Trump will win again even if he doesn't get a single vote. He'll get Russia's vote and they will keep him in office.

So our country will continue to go down hill, though it's pretty near the bottom of that hill already. Will we ever have a president again that is a leader, and hopefully a good leader? I'm not optimistic.

Posted to AH & FB. Blessings dear friend . . .

It would seem that Mr. Putin is in charge and those people who should be putting a stop to it are not. Imagine if Obama had handed over the reins of our government to Putin instead of Trump doing it! It would seem that not only Trump, but the entire Republican Party are above the law.

I hope you are managing through this awful heat without problems. 111º yesterday and to be hotter today and tomorrow. Well above 100 for several days to come. Getting my other eye taken care of a week from today. The one they did last time was for distance and it's really hard to read or write now. Hopefully that will be much better next week at this time.

Hope all is well with you and you are succeeding in staying cool. Blessings and hugs for you dear friend. I often think of you and hope all is going well. Take care . . .

Well, Trump didn't turn back into a liberal. Not sure what he is. Not even sure he's human.

Now that the Republicans are showing themselves for who they really are, it's not so hard to imagine that they are always the ones getting into trouble breaking the law, like with Nixon (Watergate), Reagan (Iran-Contra), George H.W. Bush (also Iran-Contra and much more -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_federal_poli... George W. Bush (20 scandals -- http://www.thedailybeast.com/20-forgotten-bush-sca... and when you're done with them there are 20 more!).

Trump really does take the cake, thought. Worse than all of the rest combined, and maybe instead of Donald John Trump he should be called Donald Herbert Hoover Trump.

Instead of bringing jobs to the U.S. he's loosing them! Hasn't appointed more than 500 people to fill positions that it's his job to fill. That's 500 people not working and getting paid. If he succeeds in taking 22 million or more people out of the healthcare system lots of jobs will be lost in the healthcare industry too. Then he's cutting education and that means more job losses in public school districts across the country.

Not much of a leader. In fact he doesn't know anything about leadership. That's why he keeps putting his foot in it.

The Republican Party is involved. It isn't Trump alone that is turning the U.S. into a fascist state or the presidency into a dictatorship. It has more to do with oppression and outright theft and nothing to do with leadership. Greed knows no bounds it would seem. Lots of people are going to die in the name of making the filthy rich richer . . .

Hope you and your household are all well. Blessings dear friend.

Inspiration is better than lecture, and example is better than sermon -- usually. But you know there are some people who only 'get it' if you lecture or sermonize, and there are still others who won't 'get it' even if you take them by the hand and explain every step.
