Promise - 21st Word in the "Good Word" Project - Continuing the Poems for the Good Word Project

Updated on November 19, 2016

Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith has made it her mission to help unknown authors

Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith who has made it her mission to help the unknown authors and beginning authors of HubPages to gain recognition for their writing ability has created the "Good Word" project. Each week or every other week Jo will give us a word to practice using to encourage and inspire ourselves and each other to be the best writers we can be. When she told me about the "good words project" I promised to write a poem for each word given us

The Good Words

This is the 21st of the good words that Jo 'Grace' Goldsmith has given us to practice living by. The word is 'Promise' and I gave her my Promise to write a poem for each word each week.

Promise

A promise is the sacred Word

God gave to you and me

He placed a Rainbow in the clouds

For all the earth to see

God’s Rainbow is the token

That His Promise will not be broken

A covenant between the earth and Him

_________ (Genesis 9:11)

That our world will not end

By flooding of the earth again

God painted a swath across the sky

In vibrant colors after a summer rain

The promise is His pact

That one day He will be back

Not to set foot upon the earth

But to gather us above

Where we will know His undying Love

And He will fulfill His promise of rebirth

We've all been told

At the end of every rainbow

There is a pot of gold

But, the real treasure is worth more I'm told

It is God's Promise to redeem our soul

This was my Grandmother's bible that had notes writen to me. My Aunt Irene, who was her care giver gave it to me when Mammaw died. The Badge was from when I worked at Cock Robin in Berwyn, Illinois.

Michael, thank you so much for the compliment, comment, and up-votes. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, been going to council meetings for my town and the P&Z. That does not leave a lot of time.

      Hi Shyron E Shenko.

How boldly and powerfully depicted the word "Promise " in connection to faithfulness of the Creator who bestowed upon humanity ever present reminder in a Rainbow.

Your "Promise" poem lead us safely to the conclusion offering an eternal security provided in redemption.

      Voted awesome.

Dear Maria, you are the one that is beautiful. I love rainbows and butterflies, the rainbow really is a PROMISE. Thank you for the comment, up votes and compliments.

Forgive me for taking so long to get back to you. My PC was sick twice, with a computer tech in Office Depot for seven days.

      Blessings and hugs to you.

Wishing you rainbows and butterflies always.

      Dear Shyron,

Working back and forth to be sure and not to miss any of your wonderful poetic adaptations of Jo's 'Good Words'...

I can think of no better visual imagery of the word PROMISE than a rainbow and you have done an amazing job in this expression.

Voted UP and especially beautiful, like you. Love, Maria

Bill, thank you for the comment. A person who does not keep promises can not be true to themselves and they are lost souls.

      Have a blessed weekend.

Excellent as always! I really hope you're going to put all these Word of the Week poems into a little book. I think a lot of people would like to have them available in their purse or at their desk to help them get through some of life's daily situations.

Voted up, BAUI, pinned to AH, and will share.
