Meet the true embodiment of the multi-layered vicar, Alred Burchard Wodehouse-Smythington (or A.B., as most of us know him).
A.B. is indeed quite the character: a pillar of religious rectitude (except when he’s carousing with the milkmaid from Briar Lane or the choirboys under his tutelage); a firm adherent to belief in Man as God’s sole sentient creation (yet also a frequent visitor to ‘meet-the-alien’ gatherings in Roswell, NM); a vocal proponent of the vow of priestly poverty (who drives a late-model Silver Shadow and has his hair styled once a week); the very picture of a simple country cleric (who has somehow managed to end up owning most of the fertile farmland surrounding Oakham in rural Rutland, England).
Forget the deceptive collar and specs! This guy’s got more layers than an onion!
