My Heart Has a Hole - Poem

Updated on July 16, 2014

My heart has a hole

Where you used to be,

Before you declared

Your need to be free

Nothing or no one

Can take your place,

Though you may see me

With another face

A cold wind blows

Through this hole in my heart,

Its ice cuts through

And tears it apart

There is nothing to give

Nothing more at all,

For I've built a barrier

A strong and sturdy wall

Protection from hurt and pain

It keeps my heart tucked away,

For I’ve taken a vow upon my heart

That it will never happen again.

Healing a Broken Heart

There is hope and help for the broken hearted. It may feel like an impossibility, it may seem like the pain and sorrow will never end, but there is a way through a broken heart; there is life on the other side of the suffering. You can have a bright and fulfilling future ahead of you, once you put your past behind you and move on.

very nice i once had a broken heart and i vowed myself never to let it re-occur that's why we really ought to trust GOD and wait on his will. God has mend my broken heart and he can cover your hole too.

      ladyjojo,

I could not agree more, God is the mender of all broken hearts. Thank you for reading and commenting.

      acaetnna,

My poetry comes from deep within my heart and from what I have experienced. I'm afraid my heart has been broken, but it is whole once again.

Thank you for reading and commenting.

......this poetic verse reads like a country ' western song with weeping steel guitar with the blues thrown in for good measure ......you have a penchant for a nice lyrical flow in your writing with carefully chosen words

which strike a chord at maximum effectiveness!!!

The most touching and emotional poetry seems to come out of us when are hearts are broken.

I am glad your heart is whole again.

      Thank you Justsilvie,

I have found that when my emotions are at their peak, weather through hurt, disappointment, joy or sheer ecstasy, that is when my most powerful poetry is born.

Nothing like a broken heart to bring out your best work. I write my best when things have gone to you know what. But nothing heals better than to let it out. Love it.

As I read this poem, tears started flowing out of my eyes even before I could stop them.

I know this situation described in the poem all too well.

Can I please share it on fb?

      "For I’ve built a barrier

      A strong and sturdy wall"

A wall that doubles as protection and prison. If you want to truly be happy and find love again, then you will have to install a door in that wall. Beautiful poem, I enjoyed it from start to finish. Well done!

In such a painful touch the very essence of love does leave its mark. Beautiful your pain is to my heart. Voted up and beautiful.

True indeed Jspot, sometimes those marks are the scars we must bear because of the love we've shared.

      Thank you.
