Top 10 Strongest Characters in One Piece

Updated on December 30, 2017

I have loved anime ever since I started with "Dragonball," "Voltes V," "Flame of Recca," "Yuyu Hakusho," and other animes from the 90s.

One Piece

What is One Piece? A bathing suit? A piece?

Actually One Piece is a Japanes Manga Series. It follows the adventure of the pirate-wannabe Monkey D. Luffy. He accidentaly ate an unusual fruit called a Devil Fruit, that gives his body the properties of a rubber. Luffy explores the world with his diverse crew of pirates in search of the One Piece, a hidden treasure left by the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

With his adventure, several characters were introduced. We have our favorites, our hates and this list is created to rank the strongest characters named in this manga series. So here is my top strongest characters in One Piece.

God of Skypiea

Name: Eneru

Epithet: "God"

Power: Devil Fruit User - Rumble Rumble Fruit (Logia)

Bounty: N/A (Not a Pirate)

Eneru or Enel is the former "God" of Skypiea. He is the main antagonist in the Skypiea Arc. He has a Logia Devil Fruit - the Rumble Rumble Fruit. He can Transform his body into Lightning. It is called Rumble Rumble Fruit because of the sound of lightning. He can also become lightning fast with the use of his Devil Fruit. He can also use haki(Kenbunshoku Haki), making him the first major main antagonist that can use haki. His haki made him able to predict fully his enemies attacks and movements. He was only defeated by Luffy because of the fact that Rubber is a Lightning's weakness. In fact, Oda said that if Enel was a pirate he will have the third highest bounty known in One Piece - it would be around 500,000,000. And take note, that he was only shown in the first half of the series, and Luffy was just lucky to be a rubber, defeating Enel with much effort. It definitely made him one of my top strongest character in One Piece.

Blackbeard

Name: Marshall D. Teach

Epithet: -

Power: Devil Fruit User - Dark Dark Fruit and Tremor Tremor Fruit

Bounty: Unknown

Marshall D. Teach or commonly known as Blackbeard, is my top nine strongest character mainly because he was once a member of Whitebeard Pirates' Second Division then became a Shichibukai for a brief period after handling Ace to the Marines, and lately becoming one of the Yonko who ruled over the second half of the Grand Line. I might as well add that he has two Devil Fruit Powers, one is the Dark Dark Fruit and the late Whitebeard's Tremor Tremor Fruit. He is said to be invincible wielding the Dark Dark Fruit "that reduce everything to nothingness" and the strongest Paramecia Fruit, the Tremor Tremor Fruit "that destroys all". But I can't say that he can be the strongest of all characters because wielding two strong and powerful Devil Fruits does not prove it. Don't forget that there are haki users and strong willed characters in this series. So let just put Blackbeard in the ninth slot.

Dark King

Name: Silvers Rayleigh

Epithet: "Right Hand of the Pirate King"

Power/Abilities: Haki (Kenbunshoku Haki, Busoshoku Haki, and Haoshoku Haki)

Bounty: Unknown

Silvers Rayleigh or the Dark King, is the first mate and the right hand man of Gol D. Roger. He is strong enough to be considered as a Legend and be on par with Kizaru as shown while saving Zoro and the others from Kizaru. With his old age, I think he is strong enough to be on the list. He has the mastery of Haki. He can even target a specific person to use his Haoshoku haki without even damaging the others around the target. He is also the one who taught Luffy the different types of Haki.

Hero of the Marines

Name: Monkey D. Garp

Epithet: "Garp the Fist"

Power/Abilities: Haki (Busoshoku Haki)

Bounty: N/A (Marine Vice Admiral)

Luffy and Ace's Grandpa, Monkey D. Garp, I think, is one of the strongest character in this anime. He is said to fight evenly with Gol D. Roger many times, thus acquiring the title "Hero". Also, he had almost killed Don Chinjao, a pirate with a 500 million beris in his head and who is known to split a continent with just a headbutt. He was offered a seat in the Admiral position but he repeatedly refused to it. This only proves that although he is ranked as a VIce Admiral, his power is still enough to qualify him for the rank of an admiral or even fleet admiral. Garp's strength is also shown when he easily strike down Marco The Phoenix, one of Whitebeard's strongest pirate, despite having his Devil Fruit abilities activated at that time and even Kizaru and Akainu seemed unable to do. He is also an expert on using Haki, which was proven when Dr. Fishbonen recommended to Coby to ask Garp to mentor him about his Kenbunshoku Haki.

Former Fleet Admiral

Name: Sengoku

Epithet: "Sengoku the Buddha"

Power/Abilities: Devil Fruit User - Human Human Fruit: Daibutsu Model

Bounty: N/A (Former Fleet Admiral)

The former Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Sengoku, is truly one of the best characters in this Anime. He can hold down with one arm an enraged Garp even without using his Devil Fruit powers. Alongside with Garp, they fight Shiki, whom is one of the strongest character in this anime. He is known to be a master strategist and a genius. This I think is the reason why he got his Fleet Admiral position - his intelligence plus his strength combined. He also possesses Haki. His Devil Fruit is rarer than a Logia, a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit. It allows him body to turn gold and become a Buddha, thus the nickname Sengoku the Buddha. This devil fruit gives him a massive physical power boost enough to cause Luffy's Gear Third and Mr. 3's Candle Wall tocollapse after being hit directly. He can also produce shock waves with the thrust of his palm sending Blackbeard Pirates flying.

Captain of the Red Hair Pirates

Name: Shanks

Epithet: "Red-Haired Shanks"

Power/Abilities: Skilled Swordsman; Haki (Busōshoku Haki and Haoshoku Haki)

Bounty: Unknown

Little is known about the strength of Shanks. But being one of the Four Emperors, he is said to be one of the strongest pirates. He is also not afraid of Whitebeard and the Gorosei said that he is one of the few people capable of defeating Blackbeard. During the battle at the Marineford, Akainu did not attack Shanks though he already fought with several of the pirates, including the Shichibukai and others. This may imply that Shanks is so skilled that Akainu can't stand to defeat him. Having Mihawk as a former rival, it is also assumed that Shanks is an extremely proficient swordsman. The fact that he was able to match a strike from Whitebeard with only one arm is a very clear indication of his immense strength.

Leader of the Revolutionary Army

Name: Monkey D. Dragon

Epithet: Dragon the Revolutionary and The World's Most Dangerous Criminal

Power/Abilities: Currently Unknown

Bounty: Unknown

The most wanted man in One Piece world and the father of Luffy. Dragon is referred as as dangerous as Roger. Him being the Leader of the Revolutionary Army, a force that opposes the World Government, makes Dragon as World Government's greatest enemy. Given that the World Government said that he is the World's Most Wanted Man, it is hint that he can be the most powerful man in One Piece or at least one of the strongest in this Anime. Still his abilities are unknown. But when he was shown in the Anime there are always a gust of wind or a storm coming in the town.

The Golden Lion

Name: Shiki

Epithet: "The Flying Pirate"

Power/Abilities: Devil Fruit User - Float Float Fruit (Paramecia)

Bounty: Unknown

Although defeated by Garp and Sengoku, I still think that Shiki deserve this spot. He fought 2 strong characters and fight them on par. He was also the first person to escape from the great prison, Impel Down. Down from the Level 6 of Impel Down or otherwise known as the Eternal Hell, Shiki cut off his legs to free himself out of the shackles and work his way out of the prison. He was the main antagonist in the movie One Piece Film: Strong World. His Devil Fruit is called the Float-Float Fruit, meaning he can make almost everything he touches to levitate.

Whitebeard

Name: Edward Newgate

Epithet: "The Strongest Man in the World"

Power/Abilities: Devil Fruit User - Tremor Tremor Fruit (Former)

Bounty: Unknown

After the death of Gol D. Roger, he was the person coined as the "Strongest Man Alive". It can be implied here that he is always the second strongest next to Gol D. Roger. So this proves that this spot is rightfully to Edward Newgate. When he was alive, he is one the Yonko that ruled over the the New World. His Devil Fruit is called the Tremor-Tremor Fruit, that is dubbed as "it can bring destruction to all", meaning it can destroy even the world.

The Man Who Had Acquired Everything in this World

Name: Gol D. Roger

Epithet: "The Pirate King"

Power/Abilities: Unknown

Bounty: Unknown

The man who started it all(I think?). He was the man who is said to be the Pirate King. Though little is known about his powers and abilities, but having the title of "Pirate King" says it all. And take note, he has a death threatening illness, he still became the number one strongest pirate of his era.
