Our World Is In A Mess

Updated on October 22, 2012

Our world is in a mess,

A horrible mess

Liars and Cheats prevail,

bad is now good,

No one it seems can curtail

the snowballing speed of bad

upon bad.

When will good overpower?

Only a dream for good to be winning

Everyone wants the sleaze and the sinning.

Our world is now a mess.

Animals try to protect their young
Animals try to protect their young

Look at your baby with big laughing eyes,

Innocent at this moment,

Ignorant of his whole life ahead,

In this world that is such a mess.

Treasure these days when baby is young

Don´t trouble over diapers, or sleep deprivation,

You´ll soon want them back, when baby is boy,

beating off bullies, while trying to keep

integrity that you have instilled,

Disappointments, disillusions

You´ll soon see on his face

And wish you were looking at a smiling baby face.

No problems, the diapers, or crying at night.

Safe was he then in your care.

OH! To be back there!.

The world is a mess, a horrible mess,

What can we do to change it?

Each of us can in our own small way

Try to do something every day,

That helps and lifts up,

not drags down or bullies.

Sharing our strengths and let

others do same, gratefully taking on board

What they say.

Baby steps first, We may find a way.

But for now.......

This world´s in a mess.

Thank you so much. I am happy you liked it even though it reminds us of the calamities around us.

As you say if we can all do a little good., the world would be a better place.

A beautiful poem. Very sad as well because it's true. However, there is some light in this world. Like families and such. Yet we can always do the best we can in even the harshest of situations. Very well written.

I was drawn to this hub by Billy's hub on his support from fellow-hubbers. Every sentence of this poetry strikes the chord with my thinking.

Wonderful poem and deep yet poignant feelings. Kudos.

Do check out my poem- Broken myths which is more or less on the similar lines.

I´m not interested in many sports. Tennis is the only one I get excited about. , However the Opening ceremony and the closing one, , All that hype and loud music. Love it. (from home.... 80,000 people a bit much for me these days. Take care. Thanks for keeping in touch.

Wow, Epi, I don´t think I´ve really seen myself as an inspiration to others. That is quite a compliment indeed.

Especially coming from someone like you, you have such incredible imagination, it always a surprise reading your hubs. You pull something new out of the hat like no one else does.

I´m so glad we met on hubpages. Thank you for all your lovely comments. (and cards on FB)

Hi Vincent, Thank you for such a beautiful comment.

I was hoping I wouldn´t just depress everyone.

Instead you wrote some wonderful words, right on my wavelength.

Prayer helps. I don´t believe a real God od love will allow things to go on forever this way. There´d be no earth left woth living in andI can´t see HIM standing for that. Not after all the wonderful design in nature that He created.

Thank you again for your comment.

Hi there my dear Dim...yes, I can see it and agree with you and your other commentors here...I am very disappointed in US...we have become selfish, vindictive, careless. Where did subtlety go? What happened to sensitivity, empathy and grace? We live in a culture riddled with "use or be used" mentality; where, sadly it seems, everyone is a 'mark' and those who are vulnerable or less calloused are bullied, walked over and thrown aside. We feed off weakness and do not seem to recognize gentleness; or, it appears, we no longer value morals. We degrade and abuse one another, treat others as if there is no value in life. Our culture is corrupted, politicians are out to be elected or re elected...they do not appear to care about their constituency as much as their own rise to power. Lieing is second nature and the art of manipulation and deceit has never been more refined. Deception is the operative motive; getting "away with it" the rule of the day...Or so it seems. I feel very sorry for very young children .... the world in which they grow will be quite ugly. Uglier...look at Syria, the Mid. East; our own country...loss of everything that should matter and replaced with ego, greed, anger and violence. Yikes! Got carried away here...but, "I read the news today, Oh Boy!!!"

Hey Dim, you're right the world is in a mess and it has been for sometime now. The real shame is that there are simply too many people who are completely uneducated about the most simplistic understanding of living life and how each person's actions has an affect and effect on those in their surroundings. Very nicely written. :) Voted up! :)

Yes indeed my poetic friend. The world is in decay and the moral fiber is stripped as our children and grandchildren will sink even deeper as time slips blindly by. Respect has vanished, thugs kill in the streets, drive by shootings, drugs fed like venom to our kids. No one is safe, lock your doors like never before. There was a time when no locks were needed but not this day as law is blind.

Our politicians are Reepers and care only for their own. Where will it all end? only our maker really knows. Keep the beast at bay for he howls in the night and wants to devour us whole, safety, freedoms and beliefs. Let's pray that PEACE and LOVE finds a way to heal the gaping wounds festering in our world today. Voted UP, awesome and interesting.
