A Reminder of Our Xanadu
The 3 W's of Xanadu
Within the two months that I've been writing for HubPages, it seems that many of the successful and popular Hubbers have written some poetry and or are hot chicks or have pictures of them. Well,while I consider myself to be a hot chick, my avatar does not reflect that side of me, yet. So I decided to let you inon some of my poetry instead. A Reminder of Our Xanadu is obviously about a love story, however it allows the reader to use one's imagination to decide what was imaginary and what was actually reality.
I vaguely recall the 1980’s musical/romance film with Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck,and Gene Kelly; probably because I’ve always been into jazz more so than musicals. My research also reveals that Xanadu is the name of the Chinese province referenced in a poem titled “Kubla Khan; or A Vision in a Dream: A Fragment” by Samuel Coleridge in 1797. However, neither was an influence to this poem. Teena Marie’s song “Behind the Groove” is where I remember hearing of the word Xanadu, the lyrics goes:
Hey, baby (Oh, yeah)
Let me take you to Xanadu (Where is that?)
Behind the groove (Well, alright)
Hoo...
I just love her sultry voice…Unfortunately the videos I found of this song, did not give her voice justice and besides the song is too fast to set the mood for this poem. So listen to this video of another one of Teena’s songs and enjoy the words to my poem below…

"A Reminder of Our Xanadu"
Baby, three days have past
since I saw you last,
Now as I sit back sipping the wine you left behind;
which I know you left here as a reminder of our time.
I think about that wondrous time,
and all those warm feelings return.
It seems we have a fire that continues to burn.
A long-flowing, humid desire
that only you and I could aquire.
I can’t seem to keep my mind
from remembering how our bodies intertwine,
into one selfish soul
seeking only one goal;
and that is to make the tidal wave climax higher than the one before.
It doesn’t matter if all our muscles are sore,
each being wanting to please the other
by sending that soul out to discover
the soul-shaking Xanadu of eternity.
My body now trembles from the memory.
I promised you a reminder of our Xanadu.
So here’s what I want you to do………………..
***********FANTASIZE*************
Come on, relax, let your mind go.
And just enjoy the tidal wave of our love flow.
Just think about the time,
our love fantasy had no time.
Remember our waiting,
silently, lovingly, anticipating
climatic tidal wave number three
as nerve-endings exploded in and around you and me.
Remember the feel of my uncontrollable yearning,
as you quince the fire that was burning.
And then my insides, began to scream
as I became a part of your dream…….
*************REALITY*******************
I can hardly wait to feel
those so satisfying thrills
of our Xanadu starting over as new.
So here’s what I want you to do,
as soon as you possibly can;
come back to our Xanadu, again……….
