Remembering The Past And Missing You

Updated on February 27, 2010

My Best Friend

I wept when my daughter called today.

It’s been so long since we went our own way.

I was in a store just passing time,

When I heard the cell phone chime.

I was so surprised to see it was her.

So many feelings began to stir.

I miss her smell and the touch of her hand.

Being a father helps being a man.

I miss, most of all, the warmth of her smile.

I wish that we could visit a while.

I wish we could play some silly game.

I wish she could come if I called her name.

So a stranger saw me cry today.

I tried to turn and walk away.

I was ashamed that my eyes flowed tears.

I was concerned that my heart showed fears.

I guess there’s more to look forward to,

As I’m remembering the past and missing you.

So I laid me down so that I could sleep.

I prayed the Lord our souls to keep.

But I would have to remain awake,

Until at last the dawn would break.

I arose with you still on my heart.

I never wanted for us to part.

So we travel the world to see it all.

But I see writing on my wall.

I’ll be praying that you’re alright,

And I’ll be missing you tonight.

I wish that we could start anew,

As I’m remembering the past and missing you.

My Best Friend

God bless you vocalcoach. Thank you dear.

Yo Tony! There's all kinds of snares to bring people down. I sure don't want to study war anymore. God bless brotherman.

So sadly beautiful, my brotherman! I know something of that pain being somewhat estranged from my wonderful son. I know that pain is too hard to bear sometimes, but you have expressed it so beautifully here and I hope that things just continue to get better for the two of you. That kind of love is too precious to lose!

      Love and peace

      Tony

Micky - How touching and beautiful this is. Little girls really love their daddy's. Regardless of the situation as it now appears, deep in her heart she is connectd to you very strongly. One day she will listen to her heart instead of her head. God bless you dear Micky. God is taking care of you. Love you precious friend.

People are users, some of them. I've lost a business, home, and I've lost some time with my daughter because of hate. The hate won support from relatives and so called Christians who do not know God.

I think love means - never hiring a lawyer. I wanted to further my business. I spent decades in business and it was all taken away by hate.

I promised to "not take one stick or brick from that house". And I did not!

Thank you for your warm words. God bless you!

This reminds me of my own brother, his two grown children have abandoned him through years of being bad mouthed by ex-wife.If only they knew how big his heart really was and how much he loves them.Actually, they can never forget that part cause it already is planted deep inside. They may be lost for now as your daughter, but love always finds a way back!I felt your pain!Keep the faith Micky!Such a sweet photo of you two!

Hi 0liversmum! We've been talking a lot and we love each other. It's been a very dark exodus for a while. More of other forces. God bless!

Micky Dee. Hi. It must have been hard to put your feelings on paper.

May be someone close to you/her should send your Daughter a copy of this hub, it just may make her realize that life is too short, and that there is no one on earth that loves her as her Dad does.

Unconditional love will come back to you in the future, just hang in there and wait for the phone call or the knock on the door, it may happen sooner than you think, I do hope so.

It is a beautiful Poem. Thank you for sharing it with us. :) :)

This is beautiful Micky. A love between a father and daughter will always remain. Her love for you will remain in your heart and when she is ready she will return, just like a 'prodigal daughter'. This was so beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. You show such emotion in your beautiful words Micky.

The others have already said it all. I also hope that you get many more phone calls and someday are reunited in person with the happiest of endings (or beginnings). God bless you and your daughter.

"Being a father helps being a man"--great line. Too often fathers are not men. Kids need real men for dads. Great poem.

Wow Micky Dee. Wow. I don't know how you feel, but your poem certainly gives me a glimpse. I'm not sure what your circumstances are but I certainly hope that you will some day have that time with your daughter.

What a beautiful child...and what a burden to bear to not have her near and dear in your life. My sympathy goes out to you bro...and I believe someday soon she will come back to you and spend more time...life is precious and often when our children age, they realize how little time they have left, then they realize how much more little time their parents have remaining and they come to coddle and give support.

      Great, bittersweet write~~MFB III

You know Mickydee, I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would be separated from my son's either--never. It is so sorrowful--yes--I truly know. Your daughter is so cute-love the picture of you on the bike with her.

A typical assault-did not get a hub mention of this hub of yours--if that is the reason you felt d'sd..I can understand why you would feel so hurt-I would feel hurt also-especially due to the contents here. I love you and I am so sorry that I did not see this-been attacked--but it will not work against either of us. I am truly sorry that I missed this beautiful hub of yours. Please forgive me and know that I would never purposely not come to your hubs-oh and especially this most beautiful one...I love you and wish you such goodness. One day you will see that God does love in such amazing ways-just love-no motives-nothing but pure intent--until then--know that you are loved greatly by me--no matter what windmills tell you otherwise!

Thank you very much Ghost. Even though I fight windmills -I never thought I'd be separated from my daughter like this. I always thought they were bad windmills. Thanks

Awwwwwwwwwww I loved this! Sitting here crying--the pictures-your love for your baby girl--there is no weakness in crying-it heals-and I hope that she calls again and again and again. Yes, know the sadness of missing your best friend. This is just overpowering to me-overwhelming-I just put my hand on you and your daughter and asked God to bring you together again and again and again--I understand that ache--it hurts to love and miss your child-especially when you know that the separation is underserving on so many levels. I feel your pain Mickydee.

I just scrolled up to see the date that you posted this and I am shocked that it was two weeks ago? I never got a message saying that this was new? Awwwwwwwwwwwwww. I am so sorry I did not see this Mickydee-I wish I had..beautiful but sad hub...
