Stargazer – Stacey

Updated on May 30, 2011

She’s like an angel who fell down the craze

Only not to save me

but swoop down and kiss away the maze

either way, I tucked her in…

We arrived back the city Monday morning. I worked all day like a ghost. Should I be back at the Highlands where I left my mind? I asked myself. I sighed…and smiled thinking how amazing the place was. I drank my fourth cup of coffee for the day. Somehow my thoughts flipped back in. Tomorrow’s coffee will taste a bit different. Perhaps, yummier…Yesterday is done. What happens in Tagaytay, stays in Tagaytay. Just like all those sayings. The thing is, a new day is always more interesting…if not sweeter. Too early to reminisce moments like that. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, go back to the Highlands. lol

Anyway, we are where we are…Monday at my office, about five, about time to prepare to go home. I decided to have the rest of the week off so I filed a leave. I was smiling leaving the building. Peachy was already there at the parking lot, in her new fabulous Audi. I am staying at her place tonight. You know the usual girls’ session…especially after what happened in Tagaytay and the past days. My friend was always updated to the latest cars, what more to my recent encounters.

Peachy made a drift to park beside Tempura House. Thought she was gonna take out some dinner. I got out the car after she threw some come-on-I’m-starving-looks at me. Our drinks were served when Peachy asked me, “So how are you and Jake? Do you think you guys are going somewhere?”

“You mean a relationship?” I asked after I sipped my cold mango juice.

“Hell no. Jewel, I’m hungry, don’t let me repeat the question.” She told me laughing.

“Ok. I like him. He’s nice and kind and he makes me speechless even though he’s a complete prick sometimes. Do I think we are going anywhere? Honestly I don’t know.”

Peachy moved her brows and blinked hinting me continue.

“That’s it. I don’t know, Peach. I don’t want a relationship. Not this month or next month. I suppose you know why. I like him. And I like to have him around. That’s all I know for now.”

I finished my food and I felt so stuffed. Peachy was still eating and was texting in between. She gulped her last icy juice and told me we’re going to Wishing Well at nine. I joked that I’m not going coz she planned it all herself.

“You can’t not go. I have a surprise for you.” She told me smiling.

“Wut?”

“Jake’s gonna be there. It’s gonna be fun tonight” She said.

“You’re like my Law Professor. He used to announce surprise quizzes before the day.” I said emphasizing the word ‘surprise’

“I didn’t announce my surprise, honey.” She clarified.

We hurried back home to rest a while and refresh. Two hours seemed so fast. I showered and wore my casual dress for the night. I was spraying my fave perfume when Peachy pulled me to get out already. She seemed more excited to whatever surprise that’s waiting for me. We arrived at the place after 15 minutes. Wishing Well was a private videoke club. I smiled upon seeing Jacob smiled at me as he was singing a familiar song. I couldn’t help but wonder what the surprise was…

My friend left me with Jake. I sat on the other couch facing him. He smiled at me and said something without a sound…I guessed it was something like ‘I miss you.’ But I could be wrong reading his sexy lips. Peachy came back carrying a huge tray of chicken pasta. Next to her was a girl holding our drinks. Thought it was the waitress but she was wearing a nice pinkish sexy dress.

“Omigosh Stacey?!”

“Jewel I missed you.” She greeted me with some XOs.

“I know. It’s been a long time. When did you come back?”

“Last night. I immediately called Peach to meet you guys and catch up” She said dazzlingly then smiled at Peachy.

Stacey was our close friend. Her family moved out the city two years ago. Like Peachy, she was one of my best friends. She used to be kinda crazy about me. At least she’s admitted that. But that didn’t mess up our friendship. Sometimes Peachy would tease her about that especially after I said I had a crush on her and if I had no boyfriend, I’d date her. Even though I halfly meant what I said, I still treasure our friendship more than anything else. Glad we, three, have maintained our good bond.

We had an amazing night and Peachy was right, tonight was fun. Jake had to leave sooner though. For the record, he didn’t do unexpected things to me tonight. All I’ve seen all night was a babyface Jake. Perhaps, he was amazed meeting Stacey. I couldn’t blame him, the girl’s so hot. Jake sent me a text the minute he left Wishing Well. “I miss you already.” It said, just enough to melt my heart.

The three of us left the place and spent the night at Peachy’s place. She asked me to drive coz the vodka summoned her to be with her bed already. I wonder why. I mean, alcohol have no effect to party people, especially Peachy. We put the knocked-out girl on her queen sized bed. Stacey and I have showered and changed to V-neck tee and boxers. Peach always have those clothes for her guests. We talked a bit before hitting the sack.

I was waiting for myself to fall asleep but I couldn’t. I looked at the digital clock, it said 1:30 am. I turned around to check Stacey who was lying next to me, then I looked over Peach, who’s almost soundless. Stacey’s breaths were unpredictable though. I guess she’s waiting for herself to fall asleep too. I finally decided to get up and read some stuffs in the iPad.

Went out on the porch next to Peachy’s room. Perfect place to read. Perhaps, I could sleep here, too. I told myself. I didn’t notice the time coz I enjoyed scrolling over a site called Hubpages. I heard some footsteps coming closer to my spot so I looked to see who it was. Plain tee apparently couldn’t hide Stacey’s sexy physique. She was holding two tall glasses of apple juice. In that moment, I realized I was thirsty.

“Hey, can’t sleep either?” she asked after giving me the other glass of juice.

“Yup. Thought to read to fall asleep.” I chuckled.

“What are you reading?

“Different stuffs. Then I came across this beautiful poetry. I was reading it when you appeared.”

“Really? Can you read it to me?” she asked. Her eyes told me I have no choice to say no.

So I read the lovely poem entitled The Locked Box. It’s from the poetry collection of Cathy Nerujen. Stacey quickly grabbed the iPad from me. “It’s damn beautiful. I loved it.” She yelled then checked the webpage. As if she wanted something more. Stacey sat beside me in the big couch. Her eyes focused on the page.

“Oh wow, it’s so beautiful. Hmm it seems that you read a different thing?” she wondered.

“No. It’s the same. I’m done reading the whole poem. See the ones inside the parentheses? I was gonna read them to somehow get another meaning then you suddenly came.” I explained.

“So did you get another meaning out of those words?”

“I…didn’t yet.” I laughed. “You’re here. I was kinda distracted.” I said.

Stacey gulped her icy juice one more time and looked at me smiling. “Let me read it to you, baby.” She said sweetly as she leaned closer at my side. She spoke softly while I gazed straight at the horizon of 2 o’clockish.

“Took my eye off you for a moment

and not liking mysteries…

Heard her say. My eyes straight, my ears were seeing now. Stace swiftly looked at me.

Not liking to be kept from something...

She continued and breathed.

and not liking to sit and wait about

and not liking to stay out late in
the evening chill –

Heard her breath but not mine.

and not liking to hear you cry,
and suddenly knowing what to do
because I love you –

She paused for a moment and turned to me.

I tried to hold my breath.

your eyes are beautiful when you look at me

And not liking to leave out anything –
I didn’t bother with the box -
I knew it would be open anyway...”

She finished. It was an unusual moment of me so speechless like this. Stacey somehow knew how to bring me back to life. She breathed in and exhaled…felt her breath at the bottom of my ear awaken me in the chill. Then her lips kissed the same spot. I tried to catch my breath when she ran her fingers through my hair. I knew I needed air, so I kissed her like crazy. Her hands moved down my back. Her fingertips lined my curve then reached my collarbone again. Her lips lingered on mine as her hands were wandering lower. She pulled me more to her as if we couldn’t be closer than that. She kissed me again and again and it felt so amazing. I caught her smiling when I let out a little moan. Had never been intimate with a girl like this before - the way she was with me and the way she touched me.

She’s like an angel who fell down the craze

Only not to save me

but swoop down and kiss away the maze

either way, I tucked her in…
