To My One True Love: Poetry
You are intensity.
You are power.
You are therapy.
You eat away at me,
you stress me,
make me your lunch and dinner.
In the mornings,
you don't bother me
you allow me to get
myself together.
But, at 6:01PM
I must confess to you
that those moments
make me yearn for you.
I am afraid to
think outside of you
cause I don't know
what I'd do,
if I were to lose you.
You are intensity.
You are emotion.
I've been a cheating backstabber,
but you keep me devoted.
In my darkest hours,
in my least proud moments,
you find the embarassing truth
and make me expose it.
You make me promote it
that raw sour taste
you get in your mouth,
when you look at me.
I am proud of it
because I know I am free, totally.
I know I am being myself.
You say, “baby girl it’s ok.”
I am kind one day
and arrogant the next.
Regardless of how I act,
I deserve respect
cause damnit I’m real.
I’m a woman.
I am intensity,
irony, therapy,
misery,
I am beauty,
stupidity,
fearless,
careless and
regardless of what
I'm facing,
I am reality.
You bring
the storm out of me.
You show my strength,
expose weakness,
goofy visions and pain.
You make me crazy
and keep me sane.
What I'm saying
humble as I approach you
my blood only flows
for poetry.
I couldn’t live this life
any other way.
