How one should write a book review??

Those who are professional in writing book reviews, there must be a pattern of writing. For a new comer, what will be the proper guidelines??

    Reves-diary,

I can't tell anyone how to write a book review.  I can only say what I won't write about in a review, and that'd be ... I won't write one at all if I don't like the book.

I dislike discouraging anyone when they've made effort.

However, if I enjoyed the content, and enjoyed it enough to tell others about it ... that's pretty much it in a nutshell.

I say why I liked it, and pass the information on. smile

    Hope that helps.

    femme

remember that any review will be based on your own opinion of what you are writing about. like femme i tend to write about books, music or movies that had an impact on me. it had such a strong impact on me that i felt compelled to share my views on it. this usually means that what i write is positive, pointing out why i think others should read, listen or watch what i am writing about. on occasion i feel like i want to write about something that had a negative impact on me, (i.e. i didnt like it), but also like femme, i dont enjoy writing about why i think others should stay away from the subject i am writing about, unless it is something i feel folks should be warned against...like letting small children watch a seriously graphic movie.
what it boils down to is write from the heart. tell why you liked it so much and then tell why you think others will like it to. give a brief summary of what it is about. once you have written one it will be easy peasy to write others.
