For writers at heart, is it possible to start a writing career by publishing on Hub Pages?
Is this the place for fictional writers, or should I exit now and find a different place for creative writing?
Yes, it is possible. Hubpages can be used as a real time portfolio for newspaper article writers and many other similar type jobs! If you can prove to an audience here that your stuff is good and worth writing, why wouldn't that be proof enough for the editors at the magazines and papers?
Hubpages also counts as a personal freelancers awesome site thing. You can make hundreds a month here if your good, some few even make in the thousands! Talk about freelance haven, writing anything you like in your own way, come on whats better?
I have written only nonfiction so far, but I have seen examples of fiction published here on HubPages. I would say "go for it." Everything here is searchable (Google, etc.) so this is an excellent place to display your work--any work. The right people (e.g., potential publishers) will find it.
I wish you the best of luck and welcome aboard. I look forward to reading what you write. :-)

Has Hubpages helped anyone with their writing career?I find that my HP profile is an excellent CV when it comes to applying for jobs. Because of this I may have an opportunity to work for a company and have a permanent position with them. Has Hubpages helped anyone else?

I have come across quite a few promising fiction writers here on HubPages, lately - including many people I didn't know before. Please introduce yourselves, whether new or not. You could also mention what you are currently working on, and whether you are seeking feedback from other writers, etc.
