Harry Potter series... good wholesome fun, very imaginative, lessons about friendship, love, trust, responsibility...
I think all teenagers must read The Day of the Triffids by the English science fiction author John Wyndham. It is a post-apocalyptic novel written in 1951 and will really get them thinking.
I just wrote a whole post on this, but the first book in my top 5 must reads is what i think all teenagers should be required to read before they graduate from high school.
