From my experience you cannot edit the category of your already published hub. I found that the best way to cope with this problem is to copy and paste the Hub in a republished version. Basically you have to start from scratch. I know bummer!
Thank you CapturedWord. Actually, I just did it! But, forgive me, what I meant to ask is how can one add a sub-category to the already chosen category (I wished to add 'Ancient History' as the second sub-category), which is a feature we can achieve; go to 'my account', then under the options in grey, click 'categories', then we see our hubs and the corresponding category to the right, which next to in brackets reads ('click to edit').
But it does seem we can change our main category too: simply click on the 'suggestions' box once your category comes up after opting to edit it.
