How do you understand the quote  by Nietzsche "Love is not consolation.  It is light."?

you dont wait for love, you dont look for love, you generate love.

Because he also said, "In the end one loves one's desire and not what is desired.", I take it to mean love is not the end all or be all, but the giving of, the exchange of love is.

I have never heard this qoute before, but at a guess I would say that Nietzsche is comparing love to an absolute necessity of life, rather than a luxury or option.

I've never heard the quote, but it makes sense to me.  Divine love is light/spirit, so yes love is light.
