When it comes to books I LOVE classics and things set in late England. My favorite book of all time is Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice but that's just me ^^.
If you like politically inclined books or non-Fiction Id suggest Khaled Hussein's Kite runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, it gives you an arab perspective of afghanistan.
Theres also Sarah's Key which presents a different perspective of the Jewish troubles in France at the time of Hitler's riegn.
Theres also a very nice book called Reading Jane Austen in Baghdad and its an iraqi perspective of the american invasion in 2003.

If your more of a nonfiction person though id suggest The Time Travelers Wife and anything by Nicholas Sparks is a good read. Jodi Picoult is also pretty good (shes also the author of My Sister's Keeper

    hope that helps ^^

My favourite book so far would 100% have to be: The Book Thief by Markus Zusack. It starts off a little strange and people don't seem to give it a go but I honestly thought this book was fantastic. It's about a little girl, war, the people in her neighbourhood, her family etc etc. I definitely recommend it, great story smile

Need by Maggie something. I really like it because it didn't end the way I expected and it left me wanting more. Seeing as how it is a teen romance though, not sure if you would like it XD

The Life Of Pi by Yann Martel. It's a very uplifting book and it will change the way you look at the world. It's a very beautiful story about a young Indian boy lost at sea with a 550 lb tiger named Richard Parker.

I haven't read it, but I've heard great things about Special Topics in Calamity Physics, by Marisha Pessl.  Within the book are a ton of references to other books, so if there's a particular section you are drawn to, there are books implied already that you may also like.

One that I've actually read, though, is "We" by Yevgeny Zamyatin; it's a direct precursor to 1984 and Brave New World.
