What's the correct spelling of the word for 'a vivid reddish or pinkish purple color'?
Is it Fuchsia, Fuschia or Fushcia. The web can't seem to get it right either. Maybe someone on here can help.
Vivid red to me is scarlet or crimson. Pinkish-purple is mauve. Fuchsia is a hot pink, like the flowers I have in my yard or the color I used to dye my hair a few years back. (And notice I spelled it like your first option)
My Mac dictionary only validates fuchsia. Some words require double-checking every time, don't they?
If you are referring to the word fuchsia, this is the correct spelling since it was named after a German botanist by the name of Leonard Fuchs. Variations are caused by the English vs German pronunciations.
Check dictionary.com.
Fuchsia is the correct word - it says - "a bright, purplish-red color".
The other two or non-existing words.

How dependent are you on Spell Check?Seeing made up words and misspellings all over HubPages made me wonder how dependent most people are on spell check. I do just fine checking my own work and using a dictionary (although I know I'm not perfect). I also know there are those who type their work...

Do you think it's polite to point out to a fellow hubber that they have misspelled a word or name?

What spelling or grammar errors took you a long time to learn?I can't believe I graduated from college without knowing the rules for "its and it's" -- a newspaper editor had to teach me. My spelling bugaboo was "recommend". I always thought it had two c's and one m. I learned...

Does bad grammar and spelling bother you?I don't expect everyone to be an English professor, but for goodness sake people, use some punctuation and a built in spell-check! This is primarily aimed at forums, hubs, and places like YouTube comments. Places where people could take the time to read over...
