What's your favorite expression, what does it mean and where does it originate from?
It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.
Naval expression. The brass monkey held cannon balls. When it was so cold, the differential expansion (or contraction) between steel and brass caused the steel balls to shrink and fall through the hole of the brass monkey.
My favorite expression is "swell" It means un-perfect.....It came from Clint Eastwood in many of his Movies.
The golden rule - do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Very true. Harder to put into practice. I'm still trying and learning. The hardest part is keeping your emotions in check, taking a deep breath, and conducting yourself with dignity in all situations. My mother has said this to me since I was a little girl.
