Hello luvmia, Leonard Cohen for sure, I agree with Mick S. 'Famous Blue Raincoat' would work. I've recently seen a headline calling Cohen "The Godfather of Gloom" Calgary Hareld, (January 29, 2012).
I'm not sure what you like, but I could offer some suggestions. You could look up the band The Joy Division as well as The Cure, Nick Drake and the song "A Rainy Night In Georgia."
