Crowdfunding? Anyone tried it? Your Thoughts on it (tried or not tried it welcome)
I've been looking into crowdfunding - sites like Kickstarter, Pozible (NZ site) - and have been wondering if anyone has tried this? I am considering starting a project in the future on one of these sites to fund for self-publishing my novel...which is one of the things you can do with it. Wondering how people have found it and what people think of it really.
I haven't, but have heard just about what you say. I, too, have considered it for self-pub'g a novel, but scrapped the idea. Not really sure how it works, and I want specifics--like you. Very uncertain about commitments.
I have not run any projects though such sites but I have funded a few (Kickstarter). I think they provide a nice option for people trying to get something off the ground.
As there are so many people using these sorts of services, the trick is being able to push a sharp and clear "project plan" with value-for-money incentives for supporters. Also keep in mind that there will always be a time limit within which you will need to meet your funding goal (at least on Kickstarter...it cannot be "open-ended") so your goal needs to be realistic.
