The opinion of a non-native speaker...
Shakespeare is the best, his rhymes are perfect and the story are thoughtful.

I have a soft spot for Wallace Stevens, not everyone's cup of tea but a fascinating and unusual poet. Also Ted Hughes for his northern English observations on nature and mythology. There are many many poets I admire, the list could go on!!

Rudyard Kipling has always been one of my favorites, and I was introduced to his work in seventh grade. I was inspired to write and have been responsible in helping create at least three lyrical presentations that became famous, yet I received no credit. I look upon this as just God's plan and accept it as part of my mission here on earth. This may sound far fetched, yet, sometimes things that are so perceived are the most credible. There are so many wonderful writers and poets, that it would take a book to convey my appreciation of their works.

I must confess to liking Robert Frost.  I know, I know it's a typical answer but his poems about nature and the New England countryside in particular really appeal to me.  I'm also fond of Ted Hughes and Dylan Thomas.
