My top pick is George Orwell. I regard his literary masterpiece, "1984," as the most important novel ever written. The risk of spiraling down into a 1984-like dystopian world is very real.
Hubert Cecil McIntosh Magillencuddy-Wigglesworthsmith. Quite a mouthful I know, but I would never have learned the power of abbreviation had it not been for being introduced to him. Had a handshake like a wet fish though that seemed to last for ages when he started stuttering while giving his name.
Larry, I so agree with you. 1984 one of my all time favorites. I recently reread it, just to see if the impact on me was the same and it was. I just look around and see 1984 everywhere. Think Twitter and doublespeak for one.
Charles Dickens. He has written some of the most brilliant stories you could ever wish to read. For me, he is more important in literary terms than Shakespere.
Great Expectations, is up there as one of the best novels Ihave ever read.
At the other end of the spectrum, Tolkein's, Lord of the Rings, is an utterly amazing book. Much more to it than the fantasy!
Difficult question. William Shakespeare, I guess. I'm impressed by J.R.R. Tolkien, too
F. Scott Fitzgerald. Hands down. I loved the world he created in "The Great Gatsby." His use of symbolism was amazing. I could read that novel over and over again.
My favorite author ZECHARIA SITCHIN author of THE 12th. PLANET!
A very nice question... While there are so many authors who deserve to be on here, I will have to say that I have always enjoyed reading Ernest Hemingway.
Richard Bach.... His books "Illusions", "The Bridge Across Forever", "The One" are mind blowing
