How would you add a journal entry into your book?
I am writing a book and I want to make it start off as a journal entry, but I don't want the whole book to be that way. How would I do that? If anything how would I put a journal entry in later? I'm not really sure. I don't want to just start writing and get people confused about what is going on.
I would use italics and the expected journal format for this, to minimize confusion.
Using italics, put a date and (if necessary) time and place at the top, then begin writing the journal entry in first person. At the end, insert two blank lines to denote a shift in point of view, then resume writing in third person in the normal font.
There are a tons of different ways to do it. This has been done by a lot of novelists in the past. I think the easiest thing to do is simply write "Journal of so-and-so, (date):" at the top, like a chapter heading.

In writing, how do you punctuate thoughts?Should the "narrator" put their character's thoughts in quotation marks similar to dialogue or leave it out? Just wondering what is the proper use of punctuation for writing out thoughts.

I've come to notice that there is a stark unspoken conflict between authors and editors alike as it concerns the use of single quotes in place of regular quotations. Once, I woke up dead, turns out it was just a dream, reality is my nightmare. My brain has a mind of its own. It's like 74 people in one shouting here, crying there, laughing quietly, whispering, rampaging, idealizing, it never sleeps and I can't control it. It does as it pleases, I just simply...

I currently have 73 articles on LevelSkip. Recently, the editor has been adding quotation marks to the video game title before moving it to the niche site (sometimes to movie titles on ReelRundown as well). The thing is, if you actually go on LevelSkip, you'll see plenty of articles with titles in...
