Hard copy/print books or ebooks : which one do you prefer?

Some people prefer the other, sometimes they prefer which one is available. How about you, what is your reason in choosing the other?

I like print books to keep. I have very nice copies of all of my favorite books. I like to collect things and books are a great way to do that. Then I can very easily lend them to my friends.

However, e-books are so much easier to read on the go, I also find I can read them much faster because i'm not constantly forgetting my place. I use a kindle app on my iPod. I like to read cheap e-books of up and coming authors.

There's just something about the cloud and cyberspace that I don't trust. If the internet breaks down I don't want to lose this "collection" of e-books.

All in all, the cheaper the better. I can usually get hard copies of my favorite books for cheaper than I can get the electronic version.

If you had asked me some months ago before I considered buying a kindle I would have definitely said I preferred "read" books with the smell, the feel, the history of the individual book, but now I love my kindle for very many reasons and would only consider buying a book if it were not available on Kindle... for example, "To Kill a Mockingbird"

I love having a print book in my hand and bookshelves are very appealing, but ebooks are so much easier to carry around.

I think both are great. I especially appreciated my Kindle when I was going to school because all of my literature classes required so many books and it was great to finally have them all in one place. That way, I never lost them and it saved space in my bag. Plus, at work, it's easier for me to read without interruption since no one can tell what I'm actually reading when I've got my Kindle. For the most part, I still read printed books but I like to use my Kindle for the classics since they tend to be free or really cheap on Amazon.

Nothing can ever beat the feel of a good book in your hands so I think that, despite the fact that e-books are easy to carry around with you everywhere, there is always going to be a dedicated group out there who will only read paper books. The best thing about having a solid copy is that you know it will always be there and never be lost in cyberspace. Plus, all that wear and tear on a real book just shows everyone how great that book is, which is something that you would never be able to see with an e-book.

I love hard copy. i don't have the light of the computer screen in my eyes and I can go sit anywhere and read. It is far more convenient with a hard copy. With time, books gain character from handling ,Also, from a collectors viewpoint, hard copy is still the best. You can display you literary treasures like a prize, which my favorite books truly are. smile

Ebooks for sure. Books are heavy, and I read fast - I like to be able to take 500 novels along on a trip in my backpack.
