Do you have a favourite author, and can you recommend a good novel?
I am always on the lookout for a good read, I like the English classics such as Thomas Hardy and Laurie Lee, and also some modern novellists like Haruki Murakami and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Do you have any recommendations?
I am a huge fan of Tolkien, he is my favourite author, that being said his books are for a fairly niche market, not everyone likes them. A great one to read is "The Time Traveller's Wife" (ignore the movie, it wasn't nearly as good as the book.
I too enjoy John R. R. Tolkien's work. It is so deep and he seems to always transfer the reader deeply into the novel. Even the non-fiction written about his most interesting life from orphan to Inkling is a "good" read... Thus, I would pick up: The Hobbit; Lord of the Rings trilogy; The Inklings (this book was written by someone other than J. R. R. Tolkien)...
Tales of the Otori by Lían Hearn. I read them when i was a teenager but they were amazing and always stand out in my mind.
la sombra del viento would be my reccomendation. the author is carlos ruiz zafon, the novel is fantastic.
My favorite authors are John Grisham and Mithch Albom. Have you read Tuesdays with Morrie or The Five people you Meet in Heaven? They are so inspiring.
