Who would you consider a historical hero whose life acts and morals would best hold up today?
Please exclude living individuals and those referred to in religious texts.
My father read me The Diary of a Young Girl, better known as Anne Frank's Diary, when I was little. I found her bravery and insightfulness terribly inspiring as well as the fact that someone so young in that situation could find so much good in the world and could turn an awful experience into a beautiful and thoughtful piece of writing. So, I nominate Anne Frank as a person of moral integrity whose short life is worth emulating.
