    Bobbi..
I feel for your pain, worry and happiness as you tackle each day.

I, too, have a home by myself and yardwork is a must.

My push mower is just a bit too heavy for me..so it sits in the garage.
I do have a zero turn which gets most places and a weed eater that's a bit big for me

I have 2 cats inside, but it seems every lost or Stray cat finds it way to my front porch and I'm a softy...I can't bear the thought of them being hungry.

I hope you can find homes for the kittens after they're weined.

My little town doesn't have much either...but we do have a Walmart and a Krogers along with several dollar stores.

Recently the Dollar general was closed down due to price gouging but has since reopened.

You have a good heart and genuinely care about others...a rare quality nowadays.

People who went to the same church as I did used to visit the elderly and help out in anyway they could.

I'm not sure if they still do since I have been absent from church for quite awhile.

I agree that many people are isolated and alone with no one checking on them.

Trust me...there are times when we all need a little help.
We just don't feel like doing things...even cooking.

We do have a community center here nut it is insurance or self pay and nothing free...unless you count the senior citizens building.

It's still not free, but doesn't cost alot.

They provide meals each day and have social gatherings alit to play cards or listen to music.

Goodluck with your yard this summer...here it's been so dry that I worry about it catching on fire.

    Take care.

Barbara, thanks for addressing the situation. I wish the report was better, but I know its true. Its a shame that the elderly are treated so poorly. It hurts my heart that seniors who have served the church and community when they were able are not even granted a visit. The clergy were much more humanitarian when my grandmother was alive. Still, may our gratitude for whatever little favors we receive, for whatever abilities we have left, help to keep our spirits strong. We're here because we have something to offer, even if its to remind the leaders, store owners and everyone else that they too will age.
