   Right now there is no peace in some part of Africa, so you can pay your respect by writing a poem about peace. Mine is:
   
   One word, One world
   The word is peace
   The world is Ours
   Loss the word
   Loss our world
   Use the word
   Save our world.

      send love to the world
      and to each other
      
      Put down your guns
      put them down today
      stop fighting each other
      please hear what I say
      
      Just forget the program
      they put on you
      be your own human
      go back to what’s true
      
      Talk to your neighbours
      say a friendly word
      smile at each other
      and remodel the world

   Look to the sky, the trees, the reeds
   Slowly and deeply reflect upon these.
   Calm the torrent of rage and fear,
   Then reach out and
   help those far and near.
   
   
   My poetry does not often fall into the 'rhyme catergory', but with so few words this seemed the way to go with this.

   Beautiful poems here. Here is mine:
   
   The quiet solitude of peace is needed
   Around the world, but rarely heeded
   Is the call for change in a peaceful manner.
   So often a flag raised as a banner.
   Tears are shed when blood is shed red
   And nothing to do but praise the dead
   And wish that no life was lost.
   War brings too high a cost.

   There poem is more about internal peace than the opposite of war.  It is religious in nature.
   
   Hugo,hell hath no fury like you
   Your terrible winds bend mighty oaks in two
   You remove houses from their very foundations
   Your wrath will be discussed across the nation
   
   Yet in your center I find
   A state of a different kind
   I look up and in my sight
   Is an ideal starlit night
   
   Your wrathful winds have momentarily subsided
   The calm I feel leaves me greatly divided
   How can such peace exist
   When the evidence of your chaos persists
   
   Then a picture enters my mind
   Of Jesus smiling so kind
   I see Him standing on Galilee
   So calm amidst the tumultuous sea
   
   Jesus was standing there beckoning me
   To make him the center of my every need
   So that in the middle of life devastations
   I can have peace that exceeds my expectations
   
   I thank Him every day
   For sending Hugo my way
   For when I think of that autumn landing
   I think of His peace that surpasses all understanding

   Peace is held in our hearts
   It makes us whole after we have fallen apart
   
   It helps us cope,
   It helps us dream,
   Of a tomorrow that maintains a new reality
   
   It is something that must be kept within your soul
   Under the silence,
   To keep the tears from turning cold
   
   As the world goes crazy,
   and moves on by
   The peace within our hearts,
   reminds us who we are
   
   It keeps us focused and from falling apart
   It is not bias, but creates a new place to start
   
   Keep me at peace,
   Keep me in here
   Keep me away from everything I fear
   
   I cannot fight,
   the peace within my heart
   It calms my screams
   when fear enters the dark
   
   I feel the love,
   I feel the need,
   For the peace within the soul,
   To have a heart to heart with me.
   
   Imagine the laughter,
   Imagine losing all the fears,
   Imagine not saying I hate you,
   And keeping the peace at home and right here.
