Inspiring Life Poems

Poetry is an art form, but one that touches us in ways that other art forms may not. Thus, I'm making this page about inspirational poems basically because, aside from it's sheer beauty, inspirational poetry can inspire and motivate us to greater faith and greater achievement, thus producing a better quality of life. (More to follow:)

. As Marie Lawrence said in her page: "Poems can heighten our awareness, give expression to our feelings, make us laugh, cry, imagine new places, and inspire us with their message." And as "Joan4" said in his page called Inspirational Poetry, " Poetry soothes our souls, feeds our minds, and clears our thoughts."

Of course, who am I kidding?--I'm also making this page to showcase my poetry blog, "Inspiring Motivational Poetry" and thus, I'm adding the link to it. I'm aqlso making this page to highlight my own inspirational poem "I Saw A Child Watching Some birds Today."

But first, check out the neat acrostic poem I found on Google images about inspirational poetry itself. After the acrostic poem below, I decided to put a video of several short inspirational poems. followed by a link to a book of inspirational poems, and then, I added my own aforementioned poem which points up the need for us to be aware of the wonders of God's creation around us. Then you can watch and listen to several more inspirational poem videos and check put more inspirational poetry books before sampling my poetry blog. After my blog link I have added more inspirational poems, one on success and several on God's care. There have been many poems written about God/ There are even some, as you will see below, about or based on the Bible, and there are even some poems about Jesus. Below is one poem about God called "An interview with God."

Aside from poems about God, in general, there are a great number of poems which could be classified specifically as Christian poems. Here are a few examples:

1) We Need You, Lord By Joanna Fuchs

We need you, Lord.
Like lost wanderers in a burning, empty desert
thirst for cool, clean water,

we long for you to quench us.
In a world gone progressively mad,
with chaos all around us,
we seek refuge in the order and purpose of your law.
With evil sneaking, leaking everywhere,
spreading heavy darkness,
creating feelings of emptiness,
we hunger for your goodness and light.
Turn us around, Lord, we pray;
retrieve your sheep who have gone astray.
Draw us to the satisfaction
of your purity and righteousness.
Cleanse us, and make us more like you,
role models, examples, beacons,
for others who are searching for meaning for their lives.
Come, Lord Jesus.
We need you, Lord.

2) A Perfect Christian By Joanna Fuchs

You could count on a perfect Christian
To always be gentle and humble,
To be immune to sin,
And never, ever stumble.

He’d study and remember
All of God’s commands;
He’d be trustworthy, moral and honest;
You’d know just where he stands.

With others, she’d be in harmony;
She’d never lose her cool;
Forgiving and forgetting,
Following the Golden Rule.

He’d surrender his life to God,
Full of joy and peace,
Free of stress and worry…
Perfect, pure release.

She’d lift up everyone,
Full of sweet compassion,
Free of worldly wants,
Ignoring worldly fashion.

But we can’t ever be perfect,
So we always need to pray
For the strength to do our best
To love God and obey.

I saw a child watching some birds today.

As they glided by In their bright array

Colors caught his eye

Gazed he, as they stopped to play

A while there, then flew fast away.

I saw a child watching some birds today.

And I strolled on by

With a "What Care I" attitude;

Thinking my own thoughts,

Pampering my own little mood.

Then, I stopped--and thought: "How pretty be they!"

Yet, I'd oft' passed such scenes without one word to say;

Failing to notice--entangled in thought--

All nature's wonders; things God hath wrought;

The beautiful things which, around us each day,

Live their own lives in their own little way.

I saw a child watching some birds today.

There are many inspirational poems written on every inspirational subject imaginable. The two below relate to going through hard times and sticking with it. The first restates the age old concept of "This too shall pass," and the second encourages the listener not to quit.

There are many poems written about success or to inspire the same. Here are two (below), one in the picture immediately below and the second below it. You can find more on my inspiring motivational poetry blog immediately above.

A Winner's Creed (author unknown)

If you think you are beaten you are;

If you think you dare not, you don't;

If you'd like to win, but think you can't

it's almost a cinch you won't.

If you think you'll lose you're lost;

For out in the world we find success begins

with a person's faith;

it's all in the state of mind.

Life's battles don't always go

to the stronger or faster hand;

They go to the one who trusts in God

and always thinks "I CAN"

There are also many poems written about God's providential care for His creation. Here are two (below).

Said the sparrow to the robin, 'Friend I think that it must be

That they have no heavenly Father, such as cares for you and me.'

2)THE SPARROW by Gene Griffin

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. Matthew 10:29.

See the little bird

Spoken of in God's Word?

The most common of birds is he;

But he has a special message for you and me.

The cardinal, the blue bird, the chickadee all share

A noble beauty beyond compare.

Of all birds the sparrow is not the most fair,

Yet God uses him as an illustration of His care.

But God has chosen the most common of birds to bear -

A message to cheer us in our day of care.

God loves the sparrow so well;

How much He loves us no one can tell.

Our value is more than many sparrows can be;

Our Father has an infinite love for you and me.

He sees each sparrow that falls to the ground.

With that little bird His presence can be found.

So the next time you are loaded down with care,

Think of the sparrow message God has to share.

Since He takes good care of His little bird,

He'll take care of us according to His Word.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man/woman had a dream that he was

walking along the beach with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each

scene, he noticed two sets

of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, the

other belonging to the Lord.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he

looked back at the

footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times

along the path of his life

there was only one set of footprints, and that it

happened at the very lowest

and saddest times in his life...

This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord

about it.

"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,

you'd walk with me all the way.

But during the most troublesome times in my like,

there is only one set of footprints.

I don't understand why when I needed you most,

you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I Love

you, (Name), and I would never

leave you. During your times of trial and suffering,

when you see only one set of

footprints, it was then that I carried you."

It's true that parts of the Bible, the book of Psalms in particular as well as the book of Job are written as poetry. But The whole Bible itself , every part of it, can in itself be a source of inspiration for poetry, and the unique book below proves that point.
