Are you making money with Hub Pages?

Make money writing online

Whenever a recession hits, people tend to look for jobs that they would never have considered at other times. People are realizing that with the accessibility the global internet penetration has made possible, the world is becoming a very small village, thus making working online an opportunity to reach a wider audience and customer base. This in turn can only mean more money. But is writing one of those jobs? Can people make money writing on sites like Hub Pages? And will that money be enough to be considered a decent earning?

Location, Location, Location?

The answer is both ‘yes ’ and ‘no ’. There are people on Hub Pages that are making a couple of thousand dollars a month, each month. That is a substantial income, and the best part of it is that it is passive – you write, you post, you sit back and wait for the money. But, most writers on Hub Pages will consider themselves very lucky indeed if they make a $100. Can that be considered a decent earning? The answer is no if you happen to be living in a city like New York. But if you’re writing your articles from places like Bangkok or Addis Ababa, it will sure make for a substantial earning.

Hub Pages Ad Program – Ahoy!

The new Hub Pages ad program has certainly been adding a little ‘oomph!’ into the earnings that are made from the hubs. As Hub Pages had promised, although there might be a slight loss from the revenue earned on Google AdSense, the revenue earned from the Hub Pages ad program is more than making up for the difference. In the short time that the ad program has been open to all writers, the revenue from it has been very impressive.

Quality And Quantity

So, the next question will be: ‘How to make Hub Pages generate a decent income?’ Like all digital nomads know (the hard core, at least) there is no free lunch, and there is no doubt that the high earners on Hub Pages will agree to that. The long standing idiom ‘content is king’ is, and for the foreseeable future will be, very true. Any writer, whether on Hub Pages or not, will always have to concentrate on making sure that he or she writes good content.

While there are probably some people who make a good income from a couple of pages with great content, the rest of us mortals will have to make sure that there a lot of pages of good content. The more the pages, the better the chance of getting discovered and read – the better the chance of making money; it’s that simple.

All Fun – No Work

Finally, the really golden secret to making money online, especially while writing for sites like Hub Pages, will always be the fact that the difference between a successful writer and one that is a failure is simply that the former loves his job a little bit more. A writer who writes primarily because he or she loves to do it, will always find that the hard work he or she has to put into it is nothing more than a day spent having fun.

Like Confucius said: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life .”

Equine: yes, as Google Adsense is after all only about the exposure of your ads. Thanks for reminding me of that point!

      :O) Cheerios!

Cheers, it's indeed true that $100 differs a lot depending on whether you live in the US or in Asia. So if you make money online and if you then move to a cheap place then that gives a lot of possiblities.

Another characteristic of those making money on HubPages is that you have to stay at it. I took a break of two months from HubPages but people still kept clicking on ads in the meantime. So it's worthwhile to keep going and add a few more hubs to increase you earnings.

      Take care! :)
