In the mood for fall, changing ambience home I clean

I dust and I sneeze, polish the woods to sparkling look

Mop the floor and fly slide while I rock and roll

To the rhythm and blues of house cleaning blues

I’m no hoarder yet there is a silent boarder

The scooper exploded, alas, the vacuum doesn’t suck!

Dishes! We meet again you dirty bastards!

Open the windows, let some fresh air in

House is contaminated with flatulence afloat

The soup is boiling spilling bubbles on the range

Next up is the kitchen, pile of dishes and broken glass

What a clutter in the sink, Oh woman thou art loosed

My heartfelt gratitude to the dishwasher genius.

Ball of anxiety, is it a sign of OCD, germ-a-phobic maybe

Whisking stress, rid of some pest, where’s the broomstick?

A breath of fresh air is all I need, so to the laundry room I proceed

Sniff the fresh cotton scent of that breezy fabric sheets

While I try to solve the mystery of the missing socks.

Fold the clothes forget the crease; it’ll be the same after a week.

The bathroom is waiting, toilet rim is grimy

Like an old flowerpot that is grungy, where are the gloves?

Scrub the tub; rub a dub dab, Jacuzzi's now ready for some sudsy

The counter top is overflowing, perfume bottles everywhere

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s that woman behind the wall?

Showing some beauty of her age, in her natural way except for the hair.

Oh, the bed I have to do so the house would look divine

Then I could kneel and pray with a grateful heart

For the Lord has blessed me with a comfy roof on my head

This humble abode, many would envy though room is not so many

For neither its size nor the look that matters but whom I share it with

A loving family and friends even the gnomes at the garden.

Welcome to my humble abode!

Quick green tips on cleaning the house:

1. Use an old unmatched sock, slip it in your hand and dust as you go.

2. Vinegar is an inexpensive easy cleaner that can be used on windows and mirrors.

3. Soak the dishes and while soaking, clear out trash from the floor and counter top.

4. Lemon is one of the strongest food acids that is effective against most household bacteria.

5. Commercial air fresheners only mask the smell in your house. Having houseplants helps diminish the odor in the home.

How often do you clean your house?

Good poem and some good ideas for house cleaning here. Keep a clean house? Do I wish! I work outside the home and Mr. B is retired. No he doesn't work inside the home. I think a floor gets swept only when he drags our Persian mix, Tas, across it, and the tables get dusted when Cici goes crawling across them chasing a spider. Oh well, like you say, it is with whom one shares the home that is important.

Melinda Longoria: Hello and thank you for coming by here. Yup, your mom is quite right. That's how I tackle my chores--one room at a time just make sure the music follows you and enjoy it. :)

Wow, this is a great hub! I needed all of this information. :-) My mom always told me to change my approach to house cleaning too. Not in my attitude, but she said to put a load of dishes and laundry on and then focus on one room at a time.

Well... what to say? First off....

      1) Beautiful family ----- really nice picture of your family. A lot of love and happiness here, I think :-)

      2) Great hub and a really nice idea to turn something as tedious as housework into something with melody and rhythm. It almost makes me want to get up and do some cleaning now ---- almost..!

      3) Has anybody ever solved the missing sock conundrum??

Great hub Cris ---- up and sharing! :-)

I see, you're a Lysol addict like me! (: I use the wipes all the time. It comes very handy. Thank you for dropping by RichieMogwai. I very much appreciate your readership. Cheers!

that's right, it's who you share the house with that matters. A house is not a home when there's no loved one in there. I love my house, too. I use a lot of Lysol, though, and I make sure I always spray the carpet with it. I find that it prevents molds from growing since I find it so humid in here. Dunno why, maybe because I live close to the English Bay.

Thank you coffee. FYI, this was written when I still have a boarder, eh and I stumbled upon it while cleaning and organizing my stuff. Thanks to HP, I got the chance to post it. Otherwise, it's sitting in the corner. Did you really slip on the floor? Lol!

CrisSp, This is a nice cleaning poem or sing along as you clean jiggle! I could see young children and even lazy people who don't like to clean benefiting from this.

This is really cute, Cris and you don't need to tidy up your house anymore. It's already super tidy! I slipped on your floor a few times, lol!
