   Well, you could be cold, or you can pay for heating your home.

   We purchased a Mitsubishi Wall mounted heat pump.  It has both heathing and cooling It works like a dream for weather to about 35.  After that we supplement with the wood stove.  The air conditioning part is superb and out electric bill barely goes up using it during the summer months.

   Hands down the best, and cheapest, way to save money is to stop air infiltration.   Meaning, block the drafts.  Two more cheap ways to save would be a programmable thermostat, and heavy blinds or drapes.

   Air infiltration seems key.  I've started to put up window insulating film cause the windows in this house stink.  I've got my work cut out for me next year getting this place up to my efficiency standards.

   Insulate doors and windows with caulk.  Cuts down on drafts.

   If you are healthy and active and don't have any elderly relatives living with you, you can turn down your room thermostat a couple of degrees and just move around more and keep active by doing house or yard work. Heating in a home doesn't actually heat you much, it justs prevents you cooling down as quickly. The only way to really get warm is to be active.
   Wear more clothes.
   Exercise. This will keep you warm for hours and you can turn down the heating.
   Beef up the insulation in your home to cut down on heat loss. The insulation in the loft can be upgraded by using thicker material.
   Use localized heating sources such as radiant, fan or convector heaters when doing sedentary work  such as sitting at a PC.
