Try sheep. Only humans think that some plants are weeds. The rest of the animal kingdom see them as food.
My husband usually waits until after a good rain. He finds that after a good rain, they are more easily removed and with less of a hassle. He gets the roots and all. Our lawn actually looked pretty good this year.
