my dishwasher is stuck on drain and wont shut off
if I pour water in it drains fine, just wont shut down
You did not give a dishwasher name brand or a model number but this sound like a common problem with the bosch dishwasher, they carry a switch that turns on the pump whenever there is a water leak under the dishwasher.
If it is a Fisher & Paykel, the drain runs when there is an F1 or flood condition. This is when water leaks into the bottom safety pan enough to contact a water sensor. It will begin beeping and pumping out to, hopefully, prevent damage to the surrounding area. Before I go into detail about the repair, I need to know if that is, indeed, your unit.
There could be several caused for this. If there is excessive water, it means the pump is not pumping water out properly or the drain hose isn't carrying it to the drain pipe. If dirty water spews from the air gap, the drain line is kinked or clogged. Read my Hub: http://hubpages.com/hub/Dishwasher-Repa … g-problems
