i have a front loading washing machine and it makes a loud banging noise during the spin cycle. ...
what could it be? maybe a belt has come lose or broke?
I have a top loading HE washer and I don't have this problem. Are you sure there isn't something wrong with it?
Mine makes a noise like that if the load is unbalanced. Sometimes items like sheets get tangled, or denim jeans get locked into one position. I stop the machine, pull a few things out and rearrange the load before restarting the machine.

Would you buy front loading or top loading washing machine?Front loading claimed to give you a cleaner wash, but it takes ages to wash. Top loading uses more water but washed faster.
